Transfers
OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) rules stipulate that when a voluntary transfer to another high school is granted to a student in grades 9-12, the student shall be ineligible for all contests (including all scrimmages, preview/jamboree/Foundation games) until after the first 50 percent of the maximum allowable regular-season contests in those sports in which the student participated during the 12 months immediately preceding this transfer have been completed. The realignment of boundaries establishes athletic eligibility.
Hardship / Emergency Transfer Requests
Transfer Request forms will be available online, from January 30, 2023 – March 10, 2023, and they will also be available in all school buildings and at the District’s Central Office.
Late transfer requests submitted after March 10, 2023, are unlikely to be honored.
Preschool and Peer Model Program
The program is primarily designed for children with disabilities; however, typically developing preschool-age children who enjoy a well-rounded, developmentally appropriate preschool experience may apply to serve as peer models for students with disabilities. Click on the appropriate grade level above to start the registration process.
Kindergarten Students
If your child will be 5 years old on or before September 30th of the current school year, he/she is eligible to start kindergarten for the current school year. View the Kindergarten Guide. Kindergarten Screening is handled at the building, so contact them for more information.
Early Entrance – Kindergarten
According to State Law, children who turn (5) years of age on or before September 30 of the school year are eligible for enrollment in Kindergarten. For children who turn (5) years of age AFTER September 30, but BEFORE January 1 of that same school year, grade acceleration assessments are available to determine whether or not the child is eligible for “Early Entrance” into Kindergarten.
The Ohio Department of Education considers early entrance into kindergarten a grade-level acceleration and therefore requires school districts to formally evaluate to determine if a child is a candidate for acceleration.
If your child turns (5) years of age between October 1st and December 31st of a given school year and you would like for them to participate in the early entrance assessment process please complete the following steps:
- Please register your child online at: https://www.hilliardschools.org/kindergarten/
- Come to the Hilliard City Schools Welcome Center to pick up an Early Entrance Application
- Complete the application, records release, parent questionnaire, and preschool teacher questionnaire and return all four documents to Hilliard City School District Central Office no later than July 31st
Once your application documents are received, you will be contacted by a school psychologist to schedule an assessment. Assessments will occur from April through May and again in August (for applications received over the summer).
