Two Hilliard Teachers Receive Prestigious Grant

Hilliard teachers Amanda Schaeffer and Beth Boza were selected for prestigious grants through Fund For Teachers and Martha Holden Jennings Foundation. With their grants, Boza and Schaeffer will travel to Lisbon and Madrid for two weeks to investigate how street art reflects the voice of their people. From this research, they will help Hilliard students participate in a student-led street art project that focuses on making marginalized voices heard in our local community.

“Now more than ever, it is imperative that we invest in the most important component of any classroom— the teacher,” said Karen Eckhoff, Executive Director of FFT. “Educators are facing countless challenges every day, and Fund for Teachers is dedicated to further diversifying the ways that we can support them. Our grants represent trust in teachers’ professionalism, creativity, and vision, offering flexibility to meet the unique needs of each classroom, with the students remaining the ultimate beneficiaries as they continue to grow and learn in today’s ever-changing world.”

Hilliard Alumni Brothers Compete in March Madness

Huge congratulations to Hilliard alumni Braden and Keaton Norris, who are both competing in the 2022 March Madness tournament. Father and Hilliard teacher Brett Norris coached his sons at Bradley High School and now gets to watch them play for Wright State and Loyola College as they compete for the title. Best of luck, and we’ll be rooting for you both!

Bradley’s A.P Literature Sociograms

Hilliard Bradley’s A.P. Literature and Composition students are making sociograms, which are visual representations of their literary analysis, almost like a deconstructed essay. Students must show their understanding of characterization through the choice of symbols they make for each character. They must also show an understanding of character relationships through the choice of quotes and passages that connect the characters on the chart and, illuminate the intricate relationship they share in the book.
