Columbus Blue Jackets Surprised Darby Creek Teacher

Stinger from the Columbus Blue Jackets surprised Darby Creek’s Mrs. Braley and her 3rd-grade classroom last week. Mrs. Braley entered a teacher appreciation contest in which she was tasked with writing about herself and her classroom. She wrote about her experience participating in the Columbus Blue Jackets Book Jackets reading program each year. She set reading goals for each month and selected students who reached the goal for prizes, including deeply discounted CBJ tickets. She also wrote about her son’s playing AAA hockey for the Ohio Blue Jackets and expressed how much of a hockey family she has. “When they knocked on my classroom door, and Principal Teske came in with Stinger, we were all shocked! They brought pop-its for my class, provided a gift card for a pizza party to Jet’s, and I got a jersey with my name on the back.”
