Darby Creek’s Green Energy Machine

The 5th graders at Darby Creek have been investigating sustainable energy. After learning more about our environment and the impact it can have on the world, the students were joined by The Shared Power Network with a “Green Energy Machine.” This machine was given to the students to learn and teach others about solar energy. Now students are connecting their science lessons with the impact they can make on our world.

Congratulations to Hilliard Davidson High School for receiving the Purple Star Award from the Ohio Department of Education.

Bradley’s Ethics Bowl Team Off To Nationals

Kudos to the Hilliard Bradley High School Ethics Bowl team of Gwyn Caudy, Jordan Hires, Anna Miller, Zakareya Qaisi, and Kaci Yano for an amazing season this year.

After winning the Ohio Regional Ethics Bowl at the University of Findlay in mid-January, this team of seniors defeated Olathe South High School from Kansas to qualify as one of just 24 teams nationwide who will compete in the 2022 National High School Ethics Bowl, which will be held from April 8-10 at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Coached by Pam Antos and Merry Guerrera at the Innovative Learning Hub, Hilliard’s Ethics Bowl club spends the year researching and preparing team presentations on a set of ethical dilemma cases. This extracurricular activity helps foster collaboration, oral communication, and critical thinking skills.

Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition Winners

Congratulations to these Hilliard students, Sophia Grounds-Lauber, Gavin Buehl, Leigha Dennison, Anna Alatalo, Sara Perez, and Grace Turner, who are the state-level winners of the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. Their work will be featured in the 52nd Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition, which opens on April 24 at the Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus.

The pieces are among 348 jury-selected works of art created by Ohio high school students throughout the state. More than 8,000 art entries were submitted by 3,133 students for the exhibition, which is a cooperative effort between the Governor of Ohio, the Ohio Department of Education, colleges, universities and business sponsors.

“The exhibition is a testament to the high quality of visual arts education that exists in our state,” said Thad Ricker, Executive Director and coordinator of the exhibition. “It is vital that the community understands the value and importance of arts education, and the impact that it has on our young people. We hope that this exhibition fosters that understanding.”
