Congratulations to Hilliard Bradley High School Director of Choirs, Jeremy Witt, who has been named the 2023 Ohio Music Education Association Outstanding Young Music Educator. This award is given to an educator in the first 3-8 years of their career who has shown outstanding leadership, pedagogy, and is an inspiring individual to their students. It is supported by letters of recommendation from colleagues, administrators, booster’s organizations, and parents. We are so proud of Jeremy for his accomplishments and are grateful for his service to the students and families of the Hilliard City School District!
We are thrilled to announce that Hilliard City School District has been recognized as the top 3 Best Public Schools from the 2022 CBUS Top Picks – The Columbus Dispatch’s Official Community’s Choice Awards! Thanks to everyone who voted, we appreciate the support.
Tim Domer graduated from Hilliard City Schools in 1990 and takes great pride in keeping the Hilliard community, including schools, connected through his job as an engineer with Spectrum. The foundation that Hilliard Schools provided Tim allowed him to move up in the company since he started there in 2000. Hilliard is his primary service area, which means even more to him since this is the place he calls home. In fact, two of his three children are also recent grads of the school system with the third well on the way.

The 4th graders of Hilliard Crossing Elementary School traveled to the Ohio State House so that they could experience our government at work. They have been studying the state and federal governments and how citizens work together with the government to mold our future. The students learned about opportunities to act on and influence their state and national governments. In order for citizens to participate in our democratic society, the students have been learning about how to make informed decisions, the rights and responsibilities of citizens, and the roles of state and federal officials.
Heather Tucker, an intervention specialist at Hoffman Trails Elementary, is only in her second year with Hilliard City Schools but loves seeing her students blossom and overcome challenges over the course of the school year.
Her philosophy and lifelong goal is to be the best version of herself she can be, so her students could have no better role model when it comes to striving for continuous improvement. She views physical ability as one aspect of being at her best. About seven years ago, she took action by becoming a runner. She’s since run three marathons and approximately 60 5Ks.
“I wasn’t much into sports when I was younger, but running works for me because it allows me to go at my own pace,” she said.
Running also provides her with new experiences. She said there are always fun things to do and see and new people to meet along her race routes.
She also plays sled hockey through Ohio Sled Hockey, which is sponsored by the Columbus Blue Jackets. She enjoys trying new activities that keep her busy year-round, so gave the sport a try at the recommendation of a friend a few years ago.
“I talk to my students about my hobbies and encourage them to keep an open mind when they are thinking about trying a new after-school activity or trying out for a play,” said Tucker. “I also teach them that it’s ok if things don’t go the way you think they will, like when I don’t run a time I’m happy with in a race. I tell them they must remain flexible, give themselves grace, and always look to the future.”
