March 2022 | Athlete of the Month

Anne Hassay helped to lead Darby’s gymnastics team through a record-breaking Season. She helped the team set a new Team Score School Record that had stood since the 2003 season. As well as the team record, Anne was able to set Individual Records on Vault, Floor, and All-Around.  She continued to lead by example with her work ethic through the very last days of the season. Anne qualified for the State Gymnastics Championship on Vault, Beam, Floor and the All-Around competition- where she was able to earn All-State honors by placing 10th in the State on the Floor Exercise. Anne leaves big shoes to fill as she continues on the next part of her journey!

Jake Mamula has been a true senior leader so far this season, not only leading verbally but also by action. He is the first guy in the gym every day and the last one to leave. The energy and enthusiasm he provides the team is what drives us through moments of adversity. No matter the circumstance or level of performance, we can always count on Jake to be a great teammate and echo the standard we’ve set for our program. Congratulations on being named Athlete of the Month!!!
