In celebration of Black History Month we recognize Venus & Serena Williams. Serena has won 23 Grand Slam single titles and several Olympic medals.  Venus has a total of 44 career titles, out of which 7 are Grand Slam victories and four are Olympic Gold Medals.  These siblings dominated the sport of tennis for many years and they continue to inspire young athletes to be courageous and persevere.  Serena Williams retired from professional tennis in 2022 and millions of fans tuned in to see her play one last time.

Interested in being a part of the new Wildcat Welcome Center? Wildcat Welcome Center students will help new students adjust to Davidson. They will also help troubleshoot iPad issues. No previous experience required – just friendly faces and a study hall in your schedule next year! This is a great way to be involved in the school community if your after-school schedule keeps you from joining extracurriculars. Monday the 12th through Valentine’s Day Hope Squad will be selling Valentines- Day Grams during all lunches for $1! 

Registration has been reopened for the Spring Break 2025 trip to southern Spain! If you are interested in possibly traveling, please see Ms. Cooper in room 226 with any questions. You can pick up an information letter from any Spanish teacher or Ms. Wilson!

Hope Squad is going to be selling mental health sweatshirts at lunches. They will be $25 and sizes range from small-double XL. Scan the QR code to submit an Interest form so they know how many to order. This does not officially place your order, it is just so we have an idea of how many to order.

The first day of Track and Field is Tuesday Feb 20. Please be dressed and ready to go in the WR by 2:40. If you have any questions please see Coach Aleshire or Coach Beatty. 

Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier when he became the first Black athlete to play Major League Baseball after joining the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Robinson didn’t have it easy, often getting bottles and insults hurled his way.  Despite the challenges of racism he faced, he became Rookie of the Year, and in his second season, League MVP. The impact Robinson made on Major League Baseball is one that will be forever remembered. He opened the door for many others and will forever be honored for his contribution to the sport of baseball.

The Hollyfest scholarship is due TODAY Friday, February 9th.  All applications are due to the Guidance Office no later than 3:00 p.m.   This is an opportunity to be in the running for either a $2,000 or $8,000 scholarship. Any questions please stop in the Guidance Office.

Happy Birthday Bob Marley!  Bob Marley was a Jamaican singer, musician and songwriter. He served as a world ambassador for reggae music and sold more than 20 million records throughout his career..  In 1965, he released the song “One Love”.  The lyrics mainly preach love and unity among the people of the world. In the song, Marley calls on all us to put our differences aside and come together as one.
