The Jazz Band program at Davidson is completely voluntary and there are no placement auditions at gain acceptance. Students who participate in Jazz Band register for a class that meets during 0 period for rehearsals. During the first weeks of school, all enrolled students are divided into 2 groups based on instrumentation that meet on alternating days (Monday/Wednesday group and Tuesday/Thursday group). All enrolled students are expected to participate in one massed jazz ensemble on Friday, which will rehearse and perform separate music.
Any wind or percussion students interested in playing with this group MUST be enrolled in one of the concert bands during the school day.
If interested, please speak with Mr. Malone about your participation in this group. We are always looking for rhythm section players (guitar, bass guitar, piano).
