The Cast
Welcome to our program!
The Hilliard Station theater is a program where children learn performing techniques by putting on a musical! The practices are after school as it is an extra-curricular activity. This year we will be performing Peter Pan JR!!! Station typically sees around a 60 – 70 person participation rate including cast and crew.

Mrs. Grubbs’ teaching career has included both general music education and choral music education in South-Western and Hilliard City Schools. Her choirs have performed locally for charities and audiences of more than 900 people. Since coming to Hilliard City Schools, Mrs. Grubbs has directed 29 musicals both at the sixth grade and the middle school levels. She believes that the theater is a place of acceptance and personal growth in both theatrical performing and confidence. Students are encouraged to sing, dance and act in a positive environment that promotes excellence and peer engagement. The sixth grade musical is a no-cut program so that everyone has the chance to discover the art that Mrs. Grubbs is so passionate about.

Musical Expectations and Attendance Policy
Musical Club is a performing group. Therefore there are expectations in this club which may not occur in other clubs.
Attendance: All students are required to be at rehearsals unless:
They have an excuse from a parent
They have an absence from school
Please notify Mrs. Grubbs @ Joy_Grubbs@hboe.org.
Two unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the club.
- Behavior: Classroom behavior is expected.
- Students are never to leave the practice area without letting an adult know.
- Students will receive a verbal warning if acting inappropriately or not following directions. If three reminders are given during rehearsals, the student will be dismissed from the club.
- Costumes: Participation fees will cover the majority of the cost of costumes. Each cast member needs to provide undergarments, shoes, and some basic clothing items. See costume page on the musical website for specifics.
- Parent pick-up will be promptly at 5:15 in the parking lot between Station and the HUB. Please refer to the rehearsal schedule and only have your child report to practice on the days they are scheduled to come.
- At home practice – Students should look ahead at what is to be rehearsed and practice at home so they are ready with lines/songs and able to take direction.
Our goal is to provide a safe, fun environment for our actors/musicians to grow and refine their skills. We would like for everyone to have both a strong work ethic and a humble and kind attitude. The theater is a place of friendships and acceptance. We hope that these middle school experiences will lead to continued theater participation in the high schools and beyond as both spectators and participants.
