As we approach the spring testing season, we are writing to share important information regarding the School Day SAT, which will be administered to all current JUNIORS on WEDNESDAY, March 4TH. The day will be a digital day for all 9th, 10th, and 12th graders; those students should check Canvas for the day’s assignments.
In the state of Ohio, all eleventh-grade students are required to participate in a state-funded college entrance exam and this school-day administration provides our students with a unique opportunity to take a high-stakes college readiness test in a familiar environment at no cost to your family.
The School Day SAT serves several critical purposes for our students’ future pathways:
- College Admissions: Students can use these scores for college applications and to meet admission requirements.
- Graduation Requirements: Achieving a remediation-free score on the SAT is one of the pathways available to meet Ohio’s graduation requirements.
- Scholarship Opportunities: SAT scores are often used by organizations to determine eligibility for academic scholarships.
- Academic Benchmarking: The results provide a clear picture of a student’s readiness for college-level coursework in Reading, Writing, and Math.
The SAT is now a digital assessment and students will use their school-issued iPads to complete the exam. Any students with pre-approved College Board accommodations will have those applied to this testing session. Students will have the opportunity to send their scores to up to four colleges or scholarship programs for free.
To ensure your student performs their best during test day, we recommend the following:
- Official Practice: Students can access free, personalized practice through Khan Academy, which links directly to their previous PSAT scores.
- Bluebook App: Encourage your student to log into the Bluebook™ app on their school device to take a full-length practice test and familiarize themselves with the digital testing tools.
- The “Big Three”: As with all major exams, a full night’s sleep, a nutritious breakfast, and arriving to school on time are the most effective ways to reduce stress.
- Calculators: While there is a built-in graphing calculator within the testing software, students are welcome to bring their own approved calculator.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work our juniors have put in this year and look forward to seeing them showcase their skills. If you have questions regarding the SAT administration, please reach out to Dr. Jennifer Mox, Building Testing Coordinator.
