To prepare students to thrive in an AI-integrated world, the Hilliard City Schools Student AI Literacy & Readiness Framework provides a structured, developmentally appropriate, and grade-banded progression from K-12. To be AI-literate, students must go beyond technical understanding and proficiency to strengthen the human-centered competencies of the Hilliard City Schools Portrait of a Learner. An AI-literate student is a critical thinker who evaluates AI-generated information, a purposeful communicator who collaborates effectively with both human and artificial intelligence, and a resilient learner who adapts to an ever-changing digital landscape. They must act as empathetic citizens and self-advocates who prioritize ethical AI use and digital wellness. The literacies were established in alignment with evidenced-based research curated by aiEDU and other AI organizations and professionals. Developing these AI Literacies is essential for navigating the future, ensuring our students are Ready for Tomorrow.
