AI Task Force Plan
As part of the Hilliard Schools Strategic Plan, the district has convened an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force that spent the 2025–2026 school year researching, evaluating, and defining a clear vision and strategic direction for the integration of AI across our schools. The district recognizes that AI is rapidly becoming an essential part of daily life and future careers, and we are committed to preparing our students and staff to thrive in this evolving landscape.
To inform this work, in February 2026 we collected feedback from a broad group of stakeholders, including staff, parents, students, and community members. The Task Force used this input to develop comprehensive recommendations and implementation plans that will guide the responsible, safe, and effective use of AI districtwide.
Vision
Hilliard City Schools aims to cultivate a human-centered AI-literate community where technology serves as a catalyst for personalized, innovative learning and operational efficiency. We foster an environment where we leverage the benefits of AI while striving to address potential biases, data securities, and cognitive offloading*. These opportunities ultimately prepare our students with the essential skills for the rapidly evolving global workforce of tomorrow.
District Beliefs
- AI is a tool that will never replace human relationships. AI cannot automate or replace the skills that humans do best.
- AI must enhance human potential rather than replace it; prioritizing active learning prevents cognitive offloading (outsourcing thinking tasks) and ensures students remain Resilient Learners.
- AI can be used to assist with routine tasks, freeing educators to focus on mentorship and developing students’ emotional intelligence, digital wellness, and cultivating Empathetic Citizens.
- The role of Critical Thinkers is to actively evaluate AI content for bias, accuracy, and ethical implications rather than passively accepting and consuming it.
- AI literacy is (will be) a substantial life skill, necessary for Purposeful Communicators to lead and collaborate in a rapidly evolving global workforce.
- AI serves as a powerful tool for Self-Advocacy, empowering students to personalize their learning journey and navigate digital spaces with a focus on wellness, ethics, and the pursuit of their individual goals.
Implementation Roadmap

*The use of external tools to reduce the mental effort required for a task. Over-reliance on AI may lead to reduced memory retention and increased dependency on technology.
