Juniors and Seniors who speak and read a language in addition to English should consider taking the AAPPL test to earn the Seal of Biliteracy. The test will be offered during the 2nd of late-start testing days in April. The Seal of Biliteracy is a graduation seal and serves as evidence to universities, employers and the military that the student is biliterate in English and a second language. The AAPPL test is offered in Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. See the link in the Class of 2025 and Class of 2026 Canvas pages! Deadline to register is Thursday, April 10. See Allison Kruder (allison_kruder@hboe.org) with questions.

* 9th Grade students currently enrolled in Future Ready will be taking the Certiport Power Point Credentialing Exam on one of these two mornings. They will receive more information from their teacher.
ALL 6 testing days will follow the schedule below.
There will be new incentives for students showing proficiency on the end-of-course exams for Algebra I, Biology, English II, U.S. History, Geometry, and U.S. Government. Please see below.
- As a means of incentivizing proficiency on state end-of-course exams in Algebra 1, Biology, English II, U.S. History, Geometry, and U.S. Government, we propose providing students the opportunity to exempt a final exam in these courses if they demonstrate proficiency (700 or higher) on the associated state test.
- For students who demonstrate proficiency (700 or higher) and elect to exempt the final exam, the second semester grade would be calculated by evenly weighting marking period three (MP3) and marking period four (MP4) grades.
- Students who are in danger of failing the course but demonstrate proficiency on the end-of-course test would be highly encouraged to take the final exam for the course in an attempt to achieve a passing grade for the semester.
- Any student can still take the final exam in an attempt to improve their semester grade. Students who demonstrate proficiency on state end-of-course exams will not be prohibited from taking the final exam for the associated course.
If your student has any questions, please have them speak with their respective teacher in those subjects.
ASVAB Testing on April 11th
Hilliard Davidson will be offering the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) for all three high schools on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Davidson from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. It is open to grades ten, eleven and twelve.
The ASVAB is offered to high school and post-secondary students as part of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program.
The program provides tools to help students learn more about career exploration and planning, in both the civilian and military worlds of work. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is free of charge to participating schools.
The ASVAB Career Exploration Program includes a validated aptitude test and interest assessment. The results are used to guide career exploration using our career planning tools.
The ASVAB is a standardized test used by the U.S. military to determine a candidate’s aptitude and suitability for different military jobs, and to assess eligibility for enlistment.
The ASVAB includes subtests in areas such as general science, arithmetic reasoning, word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, mathematics knowledge, electronics information, auto and shop information, mechanical comprehension and assembling objects.
An AFQT score of 50 or higher can be used as Student Strength Demonstration for the Honors Diploma.
