Frequently Asked Questions
Will AI do the thinking for my child? (Cognitive Offloading)
No. We prioritize active learning. Teachers use AI to brainstorm, critique, or outline, but the final critical thinking and creation must come from the student. We treat AI as a thought partner, not a replacement for effort.
Is my child’s data safe?
We practice strict data privacy regulations. We only use district-vetted tools that meet our security standards and follow state law. We do not allow the use of open, un-vetted AI platforms where student data could be harvested.
Grade 6-12 students have access to Google Gemini. What privacy and security controls exist?

How do you prevent cheating?
We focus on Academic Integrity and Purposeful Communication. Students are taught how to use AI in a variety of learning tasks (brainstorming, outline, feedback, critique) and cite AI just like a book or website. Creating process-oriented and engaging learning tasks circumvents AI as a tool for cheating, and instead leverages the AI tool to help elevate student creation.
Will this reduce teacher-student interaction?
The opposite is true. By automating routine tasks (like lesson planning or grading simple quizzes), we free up our teachers to spend more time on mentorship, one-on-one support, and building relationships.
How should AI use be cited?
