Stakeholder Engagement Plan

Shaping the Plan

  • Student, Parent, Community and Staff Input
Our Artificial Intelligence plan is built on listening. Through surveys and focus groups we’ve gathered insights from students, staff, and community to understand current AI tools, trends, and needs in our schools.
  • Student Feedback Survey & Focus Groups
    April 2025 – 3600 Student Survey (Secondary)
Winter 2026 – Student Focus Groups – 5 Elementary, 3 Middle School groups, 3 High School groups

Benefits

Concerns

New Opportunities: Re-learning and understanding content better.

Dependency: Worry about becoming “too dependent” on the tech.

Differentiation: Helps those who learn differently or need visual aids.

The “Phone” Precedent: Fear that it will lead to more restrictions (like phone bans).

Efficiency: Significant reduction in time and stress; helps “get started.”

Integrity: The temptation to just “snap a picture” and get the answer.

Grades: Potential for improved performance through better review.

Thinking: The risk of “not doing the thinking” ourselves.

K-12 Student Feedback

  • Students want guidance and consistency on how and when to use AI.
  • Students want time to explore AI tools and see how to use them appropriately.
  • Many students are using sophisticated tools at home with their parents or on their own devices, yet they currently report much less use in the classroom.

Staff, Parent, and Community Survey Feedback

Winter 2026 Total Responses: 828

  • Parents: 57% (474)
  • District Staff: 42% (345)
  • Community Members: 1% (9)

Focus on AI Literacy

Teach students how to use AI, don’t just let them use AI.

Critical Thinking

Use it to improve thinking, not replace it.

Prioritize Human Contact

AI should not replace teachers, instead it should give them more time for teacher-student interaction.

Clear Ethical Guardrails

Establish protocols and guidelines for responsible use.

Implement “Tiered” Integration

Focus on foundational skills and teacher-guided access in elementary. Provide opportunities to become more innovative and career-focused in secondary.

Themes

AI should not replace the “struggle” of learning.

Mental Health

Some shared concerns about a false sense of reality.

Shaping the Future: Our Community Engagement Strategy

As we navigate the evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence, our primary goal is to ensure that technology serves as a bridge to enhanced learning and critical thinking. Following the comprehensive findings of our AI Task Force Report, we are launching a series of collaborative initiatives designed to bring our community into the conversation. Our strategy focuses on transparency and partnership, offering multiple platforms for parents, educators, and students to share their perspectives, ask questions, and help shape the ethical guardrails of AI in our classrooms.

We believe that the most successful path forward is one built on shared understanding. To that end, our rollout includes interactive forums, informational sessions, and feedback loops that prioritize the human element of education. By engaging in this open dialogue, we aim to build a framework for AI use that protects student privacy, promotes academic integrity, and prepares our graduates for a digital future with confidence and conscience. We invite you to join us in this ongoing journey as we define what it means to learn and lead in the age of AI.
