Good Afternoon Jaguar Families,

The first full week of school is complete and our students did an outstanding job. We are excited to continue the positive momentum that has gotten this school year off to a great start.

Congratulations to all of our after-school programs that are officially in full swing. It has been wonderful to see our students back in the building participating in clubs, theater, band and athletics again.

I hope you take some time to read two short blogs on the District web page.  The first is in regards to misinformation surrounding the property tax reappraisals in this Community.  The second is about a new comprehensive plan from the City of Hilliard, and how it impacts our schools.  Both of these blogs can be found byclicking here, and both should clear up some confusion in our community.

The building will be closed on Monday in celebration of Labor Day. Enjoy the holiday and we will see your children bright and early on Tuesday morning.

Have a great weekend and Go Jags!!!

Technology Protection Plan (TPP)

The Technology Protection Plan (TPP) is highly recommended to all families of students in grades 2-12 as a way to help protect/repair their iPad in case of an accident either at school or at home.

For only $25 per school year, the device loaned to your student will be covered against all incidental damage or loss over $50. Accessories (charger and case) and damages valued at less than $50 are NOT covered and are the sole responsibility of the student. Coverage is 24 hours per day. NEGLECT/ABUSE IS NOT COVERED. The Technology Protection Plan will only cover two incidents per school year.

If paid, the TPP will release the parent/guardian from having to pay for loss or damage for the following reasons:

  • Damages resulting from normal use and accidents.
  • Loss or damages resulting from theft. An official copy of a police report is required.
  • Loss or damages resulting from a fire. An official fire report from the investigating authority is required.
  • Loss or damages resulting from a natural disaster.
  • Damages resulting from a power surge.
  • Damages resulting from vandalism by another individual. If found guilty, the vandal will be liable to pay for damages.

Without the TPP, your potential out-of-pocket expenses could be as high as $330.00 per incident!

We strongly encourage you to enroll your student’s device in our Technology Protection Plan for the 2023-2024. Payment is easy and can be paid online by logging into your MyPaymentsPlus account.

For just $25.00 the TPP will cover 2 incidents with no deductible. Coverage lasts for the entire 2023-2024 school year and is renewable each subsequent school year. The Technology Protection Plan will follow Board Policy-JN.

To view the agreement, or for more information, please visit the One2One Initiative site at: http://www.hilliardschools.org/one2one/

How Does Development in Hilliard Impact the Schools

Many people have seen the City of Hilliard develop a new comprehensive plan.  According to their web page, they launched Hilliard by Design to significantly update the city’s 2011 comprehensive plan.

While we congratulate the City Leaders for creating such a forward-thinking document, we hear that some in our community need more clarification on what the city can do with land owned by the school district. The short answer is they can not buy or sell property owned by the Board of Education without the Board’s approval, nor have they ever tried to. The Board appreciates the opportunity to collaborate with our city partners on projects that impact the schools.

Currently, the Hilliard School Board of Education will continue working on the District’s Master Facilities Plan, or MFP. An MFP is the product of a data-driven process that guides capital planning decisions over the next 5-10 years. The process takes into account community and stakeholder feedback, which results in transparent decisions about:

  • Educational programs
  • Facility use
  • Capital investment

This MFP will address many fundamental questions:

  • What kind of schools will best prepare students and inspire them to achieve their full potential for the future?
  • How many students will attend our schools in five years? Ten years?
  • What is the correct number, size, and location of schools to best serve these students?
  • Where do we need new schools?
  • Which current buildings should be replaced, expanded, modernized, or repurposed?
  • What is the cost and schedule to make these changes?

You can click here to access the web page to learn more about the District’s MFP process. If you want to participate in the process moving forward, please email us by clicking here.
