Good Afternoon Jaguar Families,

It was another good week at Bradley High School. Next Wednesday March 9th, we will be administering the PSAT for our sophomore students.  Students will test in the fieldhouse starting at 7:40am. All sophomores will eat 6th period lunch after they finish the test.

I would like to thank everyone that had an opportunity to come out and support our choir students’ performance last night. Next Thursday, March 10th, beginning at 7:00pm our band will be performing in the PAC.

Congratulations to the Bradley Ethics Bowl team comprised of Jordan Hires, Anna Miller, Kaci Yano, Gwyn Caudy, and Zak Qaisi beat a formidable team from Olathe South High School in Kansas during their virtual playoff round to advance to the National competition, which will be held at the University of North Carolina’s Parr Center for Ethics on the weekend of April 8-10th!!

Finally, as we move to the end of the winter sports season I would like to congratulate our students and coaches for all of their hard work. Good luck to our wrestlers and gymnasts as they compete this weekend.

Have a great weekend and Go Jags.

ATTENTION PARENTS OF CURRENT 11TH GRADERS

In accordance with Ohio Revised Code 3313.671, all students entering Grades 7 and 12 are required to be vaccinated against meningococcal (serogroups A, C, W, and Y) disease. One dose of meningococcal vaccine is required prior to entry into 7th grade. This requirement is in addition to the Tdap vaccine that is also needed for 7th grade.

A second dose of meningococcal vaccine is required prior to entry into the 12th grade. The second dose must be administered on or after the 16th birthday with at least 8 weeks between the first and second dose. If the first dose of meningococcal vaccine was administered after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required. If a child is 15 years of age or younger, only one dose is required.

Written proof of vaccinations includes a photo copy of your student’s immunization record or a signed statement from your health care provider. Records may be mailed, faxed, or dropped off to your school nurse.

Please email records to Deborah_Ashline@hboe.org, or call me with questions, at 614-921-7410

Letters will be mailed in May if we are still missing your students updated records.

Black History Month Events

February is Black History Month and Hilliard City Schools commemorated the month by sharing voices of our staff and students in videos shared across the district. Utilizing the talents of our students and staff, four videos were created and viewed by our entire school community. To personalize this historic month, here at Bradley we led daily announcements focused on historical figures and events, had interactive bulletin boards sharing information, and classroom discussions with resources focused on honoring diverse voices that make up our school community.

National Merit Finalists

Hilliard City Schools is proud to announce 8 students have received recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Program. Each year, more than 1.5 million students across the country enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Of these students, approximately 15,000 semifinalists are notified that they have advanced to Finalist standing.  You can read those student names by clicking here for our web page.

OLDER NEWS BUT STILL RELEVANT

Students/Parents:  When a parent is dropping off something for their student, we will let the parent in to the vestibule to drop the item off on the table.  Please make sure there is a name on it (pen and sticky notes are provided), and that the student is aware it has been dropped off.

NO Food deliveries:  Remember that no food deliveries are allowed during the school day.  Also, remember that basic lunches are still free in the cafeteria.

Just a reminder from Transportation– Hilliard City Schools is not allowing guests (non-assigned students) on buses.  Due to the amount of students assigned to buses and COVID (particularly contact tracing), we cannot accommodate extra passengers at this time.

Parents / Students:  If a student has a zoom/in-building appointment with an outside source, and they will be staying in the building for this, they still need a parent permission note for missing class(es). This is the same procedure as though they are leaving the building.  They will need to sign out and back in at the Attendance office to make sure they get excused.  It can be reported in School Messenger, or an email, hbrattendance@hboe.org, or give your student a note to give the attendance office.

If we don’t receive notification from parents, the student will be unexcused.

NO Change or vending machine refunds:  The office does not have change or refunds.  For refunds, you will need to call the number on the machine.

If you have started to drive and park at school, you will need to register your car.  Go to Canvas, then “announcements” from the beginning of the school year, fill out the google doc and come to the Main Office for your parking tag.  Reminder that parking for students is on the north side of the building.  That is the lot between Bradley and Memorial all the spots in front of the stadium.

Hilliard Summer School 2022 programming is currently being developed. Although the exact details of program offerings at each grade level are not available yet, we hope parents will save the tentative dates that have been set for your planning purposes. Please visit our website in March for the most up to date Summer School 2022 information.

Parent Voice in Curriculum

The Hilliard City School District’s Curriculum Department is excited to launch a multi-year curriculum revision cycle for several content areas. An important part of this process is seeking input from our parents on what is important to them in each content area. The next content area that a district committee will revise is Health. If you are interested in providing feedback in regards to your child’s Health curriculum, please click here and respond to a brief, two question survey.
