Dear Memorial Families:
It was a great Spirit Week for our Jags! Students and staff really embraced the themes for each day! Please take a look below at the fun we had!

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE NIGHT
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 2, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Conference sign ups will be available on Parent Square starting this Wednesday, September 24, at 3:00 p.m.

Please be aware that a few teachers may be holding conferences at a different location, time, or even day due to athletic events. Please read the description for each teacher’s sign-up for more information.

Most teachers will hold conferences as a Team. That will be noted on their sign-ups as well.

We look forward to partnering with you to help your child be successful here at MMS!

Thank you for your support!

Have a great week!

Go Jags!

Sincerely,
Mindy Mordarski
Principal

Your Child’s Team of Teachers

At MMS, each student is part of a grade-level team comprised of four core teachers: Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. These teams are intentionally structured to support both academic success and social-emotional development.

This model allows teachers to collaborate closely, monitor student progress more effectively, and create a more connected and supportive environment. By working together, our teams can build strong relationships with students, personalize instruction, and foster a genuine sense of community and belonging within the school.

We believe that when students feel seen, supported, and part of a team, they are more engaged in learning and more confident in facing challenges. These teams also help us communicate more consistently with families and coordinate student support across subjects.
Here are the CURRENT TEAMS for this year.

PTO INFORMATION

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

A couple of weeks ago, the MMS PTO sent a message asking for families’ help. This need for help continues. Unlike elementary PTOs, we don’t hold large fundraisers, such as flower sales. We are primarily funded by donations from our families and profits from spirit wear sales and spirit nights. With these monies, the PTO hosts social activities for students and provides busing for field trips. For our staff, the PTO offers meals for conference nights, back-to-school events, and Teacher Appreciation Week.

We are facing a challenge, though. In the last couple of years, the number of donations to PTO has significantly decreased. Without a change, the PTO will have to scale back or cut items such as student socials or food for staff. Please consider donating to PTO – any amount is appreciated – at https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/MMSPTOJAGS…. or Venmo @ HilliardMemorial-PTO.

So far this school year, about 20 families have donated money to the PTO. THANK YOU! We understand that there are many demands on your time and money, and that resources are not limitless. We appreciate anything you can give.

Additional ways to support the PTO:

– Check out our Memorial online spirit wear store at: https://jupiter.areswear.com/store/?storeName=Hilliard_Memorial_MS_Back_to_School_2025 The store will close 11:59 pm on Weds., Sept, 23 .

– Attend the Sept. meeting. Will be held virtually on Weds., 9/23 at 7 pm. Link will be posted on Facebook early in the week.

DISTRICT NEWS

Hilliard Ranked #1 in Ohio for Value-Added – Third Year in a Row

We are proud to share that, once again for the third year in a row, Hilliard City Schools has been ranked #1 in the entire state of Ohio for the value-added component on the Ohio School Report Card. This recognition reflects the outstanding work of our teachers, staff, and students in ensuring that every learner makes meaningful academic growth each year, no matter where they begin.

Value-added is one of the most important measures of the impact a school district has on its students. It looks not just at test scores, but also at the progress students are making over time. Leading the state in this measure reaffirms what we know to be true—our students are learning and growing in powerful ways because of the commitment of our educators and the support of our community.

At the same time, we know there is more work to do. While our value-added ranking is a point of pride, the report card always points us to areas of potential growth, and this year is no exception. That tells us we must continue to focus on the bigger picture: not only how students grow while they are with us, but also how prepared they are when they leave us.

As part of our strategic planning, we are renewing our focus on graduation rates and post-graduation readiness, as well as readiness in literacy and mathematics. Whether our students choose college, career, or military service, we want them to leave Hilliard City Schools with the skills, confidence, and experiences they need to thrive.
This moment is both a celebration and a call to action. We celebrate the dedication of our staff, the resilience of our students, and the ongoing support of our families. And we recommit ourselves to ensuring every student graduates ready for the future.

Attendance Awareness Month Continues – Resilient Learners Need Real-Time Learning

Learning isn’t just in the textbook—it’s in collaboration, problem-solving, and making meaning together. When students miss school, they miss those chances to grow through experience. Being present helps them build the resilience and adaptability our world demands.

HCSD Career Connections: Parent/Guardian & Community Volunteer Opportunities

Hilliard City Schools is dedicated to providing students with meaningful career awareness, exploration, and planning opportunities from Pre-K through 12th grade. To achieve this, we are building a robust database of parents, guardians, and community members who are willing to share their professional expertise with our students.
Your knowledge and experience are invaluable assets that can inspire and guide the next generation. Please complete this form to let us know how you might be willing to contribute. Thank you for your partnership in preparing our students to be Ready For Tomorrow!
