Good Afternoon Jaguar Families,

It’s hard to believe that next week will be the start of November. We are proud of the effort our students have shown during our first quarter of the 24/25 school year.

The Bradley Marching Band had an amazing time this past weekend, performing at the Bands of America Super Regional Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. This is the second largest marching band competition in the country this year, featuring 88 bands from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Virginia.

The final performance of our 2024 competition show, “Waiting On The Sky To Change”, will be THIS SATURDAY at 1:30 PM here at HBHS at the OMEA State Marching Band Finals. We would love for you to come and support these amazing performers!

Finally, congratulations to all of our fall sports team and coaches. As we begin to wrap up the fall sports seasons, we would like to thank all of our families and staff for their support of all of our students.

Have a Great Weekend and Go Jags!!!

ATTENDANCE

Did you know?

When students are tardy to school, that time counts toward chronic absenteeism.

Being one hour late to school, leaving school two hours early, or leaving and returning midday for an appointment are all examples of hours away from instruction. Even “just a few minutes” adds up to lost time.

Good Afternoon Jaguar Families,

I would like to thank our families who donated to assist our PTO’s morning coffee cart this week. The entire Bradley staff greatly appreciated the treats and snacks that made Wednesday’s morning special.

The Bradley Marching Band gave another superior performance Saturday at the Buckeye Invitational at Ohio Stadium. They again received Superior ratings from all seven judges and finished 7th out of 31 competing bands.

Your last chance to catch the entire competition show, “Waiting on the Sky to Change”, will be Saturday, October 26th, at Bradley in the OMEA State Marching Band Finals; the band will perform at 1:30 PM.

On October 23rd, we will administer the PSAT10 for all sophomore students and the NMSQT for our pre-registered junior students. On this day, we will operate on a testing delay schedule.

Finally, the building will be closed tomorrow in observance of COTA Day. Please enjoy the great weather and time with friends and family.

Get Familiar with the Canvas Parent App

Hilliard proudly adopted Canvas as our Learning Management System (LMS) about 10 years ago before many universities (like OSU and BGSU, just to name a couple). Fast forward to 2024 and you’ve likely seen or heard that many K12 institutions, and a myriad of colleges and universities, have also adopted Canvas. We are proud of the work our district has done with our online presence for our students, teachers, and also parents/guardians. While it’s not perfect, the Canvas Parent app has come a long way with how observers can see and better understand the tasks that are assigned to their student(s) as well as feedback being provided to them from their teachers. Canvas continues to work with districts like Hilliard to constantly improve the app experience for all of its users.

Because of our partnership with Instructure (the parent company of Canvas), we have also been able to work closely with their developers of the Parent Canvas app to make it what it is today and we warmly promote the app with our parents. If you don’t have it, we recommend going to the iOS App Store (for Apple users) or Google Play Store (for Android users) to get it and sign in to begin seeing your child’s online school environment and their progress in their Canvas courses.

Good Afternoon Jag Families,

I would like to thank everyone who came out to support our students’ performance of Eurydice. It was wonderful to see many of our families, students, and staff during the troops’ first-weekend performance of the school year.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held next Wednesday, October 16th. Please click the live link for signups or go to the Hilliard Bradley homepage. Directions for signup are available on the sign-up page if needed. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the main office at 614-921-7400.

On October 23rd, we will administer the PSAT10 for all of our sophomore students and the NMSQT for our junior students who have pre-registered. We will operate on a testing delay schedule on this day. We will send out a separate email with more information next week.

Finally, next Friday the building will be closed in observance of COI Day.  Have a great weekend and Go Jags!

Did you know?

Did you know? Chronic absence in Ohio is a student missing 10% more of the school year for any reason. Research shows that missing 10% of the school year, or approximately two days a month, negatively affects a student’s academic performance.

What is the Impact of Rising Home Values & House Bill 920 on District Revenue

Since 2016, home values in our district have increased by 89.1%, but district property tax revenue has only risen by 14.3%. This is due to House Bill 920, which was passed in 1976, which protects homeowners from significant tax increases. Unfortunately, this growth is partially offset by a $4 million reduction in state funding this year.  Click HERE for more details in our Issue 39 FAQ’s.

Good Afternoon Jaguar Families,

Homecoming is here! Tonight’s homecoming game against Upper Arlington High School starts at 7:00 p.m. Due to potential rain storms, the homecoming dance will be in the gym tomorrow, September 28th, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Please remind your students to download their tickets and bring a picture ID.

I ask all of you to please talk to your sons/daughters about drinking and drugs. Many students may be asked to attend parties before and after the dance. If your child is attending a party, please make sure there will be parent supervision and that there are no drugs or alcohol.  A simple phone call can save a life. We want all of our students to have a great weekend, and it’s critical that everyone remains safe.

Parent-teacher conferences are on Wednesday, October 16th, from 2:45-7:00 pm. Please go to the Hilliard Bradley homepage and click the signup link that will go live at noon next Wednesday, October 2nd. To schedule a conference, please click on a teacher’s name. We ask that you sign up for only one-time slot per teacher.  Directions for signup are available on the sign-up page if needed. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call the main office at 614-921-7400.

Have a great weekend!  Go Jags!!!

Attendance

We have been focusing on good attendance patterns in the district, but what exactly is a satisfactory attendance rate? Satisfactory student attendance is not necessarily perfect attendance, but is a 95% or better attendance rate. As we are nearing the end of Start Strong September, we want to remind families that although our goal is 95% or better, we want 100% of our students to be successful!

Advanced Placement (AP)

AP (Advanced Placement) Exam Registration is now open! If you (or your student) are currently in an AP course, please register to take the exam on MyPaymentsPlus. Taking the AP Exam and getting a qualifying score helps students save time and money by earning college credit or advanced placement, which allows them to skip introductory college courses. Most colleges grant credit, advanced placement or both for qualifying AP Exam scores.

  • The registration window is 9/25/24 – 10/25/24
  • Each AP exam is $99
  • Students who qualify for free/reduced lunch have a fee of $53 per exam

See Mrs. Buscemi or Mrs. Wintrich in guidance with any questions!
