Bradley eNews – March 3, 2023

Good Afternoon Jaguar Families,

The National Merit Scholarship Program has now determined which of the 16,000 Semifinalists named in September 2022 have met all requirements to advance to Finalist standing in the competition. Hilliard Bradley High School Finalists in the 2022-2023 National Merit Scholarship Competition include: Trisha Suresh and Anh Thi Thai. These two students will be celebrated on March 13th at our next board meeting.

Next Wednesday, we will be holding the PSAT10, from 7:40am to 12:00pm, for all Sophomores students. Students that are not taking the PSAT10, will arrive at school as normally scheduled with no change to their schedules.

The Bradley Band is performing its winter concert next Thursday, March 9th, at 7pm in the PAC. We would love for you to join us for a night of wonderful wind band literature. The musicians of the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble have worked extremely hard on some very difficult music, and they would greatly appreciate your attendance and support!

This weekend is a big event weekend for our Jaguars.  Wrestling Districts begin today at Darby High School beginning at 4:00pm. The Bradley cheerleaders will be competing at the State Competition beginning at 8:26am and 9:42am at Big Walnut High School.  Averey Jervis and Lilly Gibbs will be competing in the Gymnastics State Championships at Bradley High School beginning tonight at 4:00pm. The Bradley boys basketball team will be competing in the District Finals on Saturday at 5:00pm at Ohio Dominican University. Girls wrestling will be competing in Regionals at Orange High School at 10:00am on Sunday. We look forward to seeing you at one or more of these events this weekend.

Have a great weekend and Go Jags!

Hilliard Bradley is offering an amazing event to our students and staff on Friday, March 17, in the Media Center during all lunch periods 4-6th.

This is for ANY student who is curious about the military, US Space Force, as well as finance, security and other opportunities for our country.

Please see Ms. Ysseldyke in the Media Center or email your name to Nancy_Ysseldyke@hboe.org by Thursday, March 9, 2023, to secure your spot. RSVP must be given in order to attend. Lunch will be provided.

Five airmen will be coming to Bradley HS to conduct a RAP (Recruiter’s Assistance Program). This will be an informational session where students have access to fresh airman, from different career fields and some who have graduated locally from central Ohio.

Community Conversations Start Next Week

To prepare all students without exception to be Ready for Tomorrow, we must create authentic partnerships with our community.  We want to hear your ideas, thoughts, and opinions about how your schools should approach a changing landscape. That’s why the Hilliard Board of Education created the Community Conversation Program.

How we educate students is changing rapidly.  There are many choices about how schools will look and work as we move forward. These decisions need to be made as a community and with the consideration of many different voices.  We need to understand our residents and build a better relationship between the school district and the community. This demands a different kind of conversation. Sometimes that will mean reaching out to a specific group in our community. Other times, it means defining an issue or topic that demands community input.  There will be board members, and district administrators at each conversation.

These will happen quarterly.

  • Tuesday, March 7 – 5:30 pm at the Hub (3859 Main Street, Hilliard)
  • Tuesday, June 13 – 9 am at the Hub
  • Tuesday, September 5 – 5:30 pm at the Hub
  • Tuesday, December 5 – 9 am at Central Office (2140 Atlas Street, Columbus)

The first conversation topic will be Student Achievement.  Please join us to share your voice.

We are Hilliard

We invite you to participate in a special community celebration called We Are Hilliard.  Hilliard City Schools and the Hilliard Arts Council are hosting the community event on Saturday, March 18th, from 10 am – 3 pm at Hilliard Heritage Middle School.

To make our We Are Hilliard event special, the committee invites you to submit a Google Form to host a table to showcase you! Everyone is encouraged to sign up. The goal of the event is to celebrate and honor our beautiful and diverse community.

Digital Wellness Month

Technology is all around us. Devices like smartphones, computers, and tablets have vastly improved the way we learn, solve problems, and work in our daily lives. In our increasingly technology-rich world, it is essential that students are equipped to lead a balanced and healthy digital lifestyle for success in school, at home, and in their future careers.

Over the next month, we will explore the four facets of digital wellness: Well Being, Citizenship, Etiquette, and Safety.  Each week we will send out ideas to help build digital wellness in students’ lives.  This week, let’s talk about ways to develop Digital Well Being in students.
