REMOTE LEARNING ON MARCH 10 FOR THOSE NOT TESTING

On March 10, all sophomores will have the opportunity to take the PSAT 10 at Bradley High School.  Even though this is a “Group A” hybrid day, all students who are NOT testing (freshen, juniors, and seniors) will be in remote learning on March 10.  These students will not be in the building as they will be learning at home through instruction on Canvas.  Only sophomores taking the PSAT 10 will report to Bradley on March 10.

Attention Sophomore Parents

On March 10, all sophomores (according to their grade in Home Access) will be taking the PSAT 10 test at their home buildings.  Only 10th grade student taking the PSAT 10 will report to school on this day–all other students will be working remotely at home.  On March 10, sophomores will report to their testing locations at 7:40 a.m.  These testing rooms will be posted on the Class of 2023 page.  Below is additional information that will be helpful on both the testing day and leading up to the test day.  Please contact your counselor for additional questions or clarification

  • All College Board test security measures will be in place for this assessment.  Students should be prepared not to bring their cell phones into the testing location (they can be kept in a backpack and turned off).  They should also have proper identification with them. (current School ID, driver’s license, state ID, etc)
  • Students should plan to bring a College Board approved calculator to the test administration.  (Calculator information is LINKED HERE)
  • Students should be able to see their scores from the state administration in their College Board account approximately 4 weeks from the test date.
  • Please check the College Board website for specific questions:  https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10

 Digital Wellness Month

It’s Digital Wellness Month at Hilliard Schools! The goal of digital wellness month is to recognize that while technology is a powerful tool for learning and information, we must learn to manage our time, behaviors, and choices on devices to maintain a healthy life.  This week we will be sharing ideas around Well-Being for students.

One way to build a healthy digital life is for students to monitor their screen time so they know how much time they spend on a device and which apps they are using.  To turn this on, go to Settings > Screen Time (on the left) > and Turn On Screen Time.  This will give you a weekly report on the apps and the amount of time spent on those apps.

Hilliard Education Foundation Spring Event

The Hilliard Education Foundation will host a virtual event on March 16 featuring Broadway star and 2000 Hilliard Davidson graduate, Jessica Grové! This exciting opportunity is in lieu of HEF’s annual spring event, Denim and Diamonds. The Grové family has generously agreed to match every dollar given up to $10,000 from March 16 to March 31!  You can learn more about this important event on our web page now.

PREPARING FOR NEXT YEAR

As we begin the process to prepare for the 2021/22 school year, we know our families have many questions.  This information is for all parents/guardians, whether your student is attending in person or  the Online Academy.

Below are the steps you and your student will go through for each grade level.  Here are a few important things to remember for all ages:

  1. 2021/22 School Year Commitments are for the entire school year.  You will not have the option of choosing a half year, or switching between programs.
  2. The 2021/22 School Year Commitment forms will be sent out on April 5.  The only parents/guardians that need to fill out the Commitment Form are those enrolling their student in the Online Academy.  The deadline to enroll in the Online Academy is April 9.
  3. Teachers at the secondary level will be providing students with course recommendations in Home Access.  You can email your teacher if you have questions about their recommendation.
  4. Before making the commitment to the Online Academy be sure to review the available course offerings.  NOT ALL SECONDARY CLASSES ARE OFFERED IN THE ONLINE ACADEMY.

Please remember as we go through the next several weeks our principals, teachers and counselors are all available to help your family every step of the way.

All Incoming 9 -12 Grade Students

  • An information video will be posted on the High School web pages by March 1.  Memorial Middle School will be including information about Bradley High School for the 8th grade students this week.
  • Students entering grade 9 will select courses March 1-9 in HomeAccess.
  • Students entering grades 10, 11, and 12 will select courses March 10-26.
  • You will be selecting both the course type and location, whether in the building or in the Online Academy.  REMEMBER, NOT ALL CLASSES ARE OFFERED IN THE ONLINE ACADEMY.
  • If you want to pursue college classes as an alternative to a world language, AP, or Honors course, you need to email Tom_Woodford@hboe.org to explore the options.  A College Credit Plus Intent Form will also need to be filled out.
  • The week of April 5-9 all parents/guardians enrolling their student in the Online Academy will need to fill out the 2021/22 School Year Commitment form with your decision for the entire school year.
