The Ensembles

7th Grade Treble Choir is open to any 7th grade student who sings soprano or alto. This choir focuses on proper vocal technique, tone, and production. Students learn to sight read, sing in different languages/styles, sing in two or three parts, and identify musical vocabulary to enhance their music literacy. Choir is a performance based, graded class. Concerts are mandatory and occur in the evenings at least four times throughout the academic year.

8th Grade Treble Choir is open to any 8th grade student who sings soprano, mezzo, or alto. This choir continues to focus on proper vocal technique, tone, and production as students progress through their choral music journey. Students further develop their knowledge of sight reading, singing in different languages/styles, singing in two or three part literature, and music theory terms. Choir is a performance based, graded class. Concerts are mandatory and occur in the evenings at least four times throughout the academic year.

Tenor Bass Choir is open to all tenor, baritone, and bass singers. This choir assists young men in developing the changing voice while also focusing on proper vocal technique, tone, and production. Students will develop knowledge of sight reading, music theory, and bass clef reading. Choir is a performance based, graded class. Concerts are mandatory and occur in the evenings at least four times throughout the academic year.

Heritage Harmony is an auditioned group of mixed voices. Students in this group have demonstrated advanced knowledge in sight reading, music theory, vocal tone/production, and performance etiquette. Students perform a wide variety of choral literature ranging from madrigals to popular acapella music. Students rehearse once a week after school for an hour and perform at various school and community events.

Our Staff

Ashley Biedenharn
Director
Ashley Biedenharn received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from The Ohio State University in 2018. She is a proud buckeye alumni! In 2022, she graduated from Capital University with a Master of Music in Music Education where she also received her Kodály certification. She previously served as the K-8 General and Middle School Music Teacher at St. Andrew School where she taught general music classes, directed the school musical, organized and produced the school talent show, and assisted in the school choir. She currently directs the 7th grade Treble Choir, 8th grade Treble Choir, Tenor Bass Choir, and Heritage Harmony. Ashley resides in Grove City with her husband, Hayden (a proud Darby alumnus… Go Panthers!), and their two children, Jemma and Ezra.

General Information


Heritage Choir is comprised of approximately 150 students. The goal of Heritage Choir is to provide a safe environment for students to learn and grow as musicians and people. Students in choir will learn to sight read, read music in two to three parts, enhance their music literacy, and perform at a high caliber. Students sing music from the OMEA class A and B lists at the junior high level. Students become part of a choir family centered around trust, musicianship, and friendship.
