Symphonic Choir is a very select choir and is the school’s most advanced performing group in the field of vocal music. Members are selected by auditioning interested students. Ability to read music is assumed on the part of the student. During the year, this group presents choral concerts which consist of music drawn from classical, sacred to contemporary genres.
The chorus meets five periods per week, and performs a rigorous schedule of performances, including but not limited to in school concerts, OMEA Adjudicated Events, and possible convention performances and clinics. Permission of the instructor is required. A choir camp/retreat is part of this course.

Concert Choir Soprano is open to all students who are interested in singing and performing. This choir may perform at various functions throughout the year – concerts, OMEA adjudicated events, and various invitations. This group will focus on developing proper vocal production and technique.

Shades of Blue A Cappella
Shades of Blue A Cappella is the premier contemporary a cappella ensemble of the Jaguar A Cappella Program at Hilliard Bradley High School in Hilliard, Ohio. Over the last seven years, they have evolved into one of the most successful high school a cappella groups in the country. In April 2023, Shades of Blue won the International Championship of High School A Cappella at the Town Hall Theatre in New York City taking home The Gooding Cup. They perform in and around the greater Columbus area and throughout the country. They have been featured performers recently at the National A Cappella and Choral Convention in Orlando, Florida in 2024, the American Choral Directors Association National Conference in 2023, the National A Cappella Convention in Orlando, Florida in 2022, and SoJam A Cappella festival in 2021.
In the past three years, Shades of Blue has released various studio recordings which are available on all streaming platforms. Their debut EP, Courage, was nominated for “Best High School EP” at the 2022 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards. Shades of Blue has had their recordings selected for Voices Only! in 2021 and 2022 and Best of High School A Cappella in 2022 and 2023. In March 2023, they released their debut album, Brighter Days. One of the tracks on that album won the Contemporary A Cappella Award for “Best High School Song” for 2023. In 2024, Brighter Days was picked as Albums of the Year by the Recorded A Cappella Review Board and received runner up at the 2024 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards. They have also enjoyed building their online community on Instagram and TikTok through short form video performances.

ECHO A Cappella is a mixed a cappella group and is open to students of all grades enrolled in any Bradley Choir. Students who attend Tolles may also audition even if they cannot be in a curricular choir. All rehearsals will be after school. Students accepted will also be expected to attend Jaguar A Cappella Camp in July. Performances will be varied throughout the school year including major performances at Hilliard Idol and Jaguar A Cappella Concerts. Students in ECHO are expected to work on music outside of rehearsals and come to rehearsals well prepared. ECHO will be competing in the International Championship of High School A Cappella which runs from January through April. ECHO is directed by Mr. Witt.

Jeremy Witt is an educator, conductor, and performer from Hilliard, Ohio. He is a graduate of Cedarville University with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music Education and of Kent State University with a Master’s in Music Education. He currently is in his eighth year of teaching and serves as the Director of Choirs at Hilliard Bradley High School. In his role at Bradley, Jeremy conducts the Symphonic Choir and Concert Choir Tenor/Bass. He also oversees the Jaguar A Cappella program, co – directs Shades of Blue a cappella with Ms. Kelsey Burkett and Ms. Alyssa Schott, and directs ECHO a cappella. In addition to his responsibilities at Bradley, Jeremy directs the 7th and 8th Grade Tenor/Bass choir at Memorial Middle School
Jeremy is very involved in the contemporary a cappella movement. He has served as a producer for the all – a cappella radio station, Acaville. Jeremy has worked as a judge for the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards, and as a judge for the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella and International Championship of High School A Cappella. Jeremy founded Cedarville University’s first contemporary a cappella group, The Inversions, and served as the Music Director/President four years. Under his direction, the group had sold-out concerts, produced two EP studio recordings, and had their singles “Stay” and “Mad World” selected for the international a cappella compilation album Voices Only. The “Mad World” music video was nominated for an A Cappella Video Award.
Jeremy has continued his work in contemporary a cappella educationally through developing the Jaguar A Cappella program with Kelsey Burkett and Alyssa Schott. The program has grown from one to four contemporary a cappella groups. Jaguar A Cappella consists of one middle school group, Blue Notes, and three high school groups WAVE, ECHO, and the award-winning Shades of Blue.
On February 2nd, Jeremy was awarded Ohio Music Education Association’s Outstanding Young Music Educator for 2023!
Jeremy is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Ohio Choral Directors Association, Ohio Music Education Association, and the A Cappella Education Association.
Jeremy is lovingly supported by his wife, Lindi, and daughter, Hayden.

Anna Adams is a music educator, conductor, vocalist, and performer from Delaware, Ohio. She is a graduate of Miami University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education specializing in vocal music, and a minor in musical theater. At Hilliard Bradley High School, Anna is responsible for teaching the treble voices of the Bradley Choir program. She directs the Soprano Alto Concert Choir, Chorale, and assists Jeremy Witt with the Symphonic Choir. She additionally teaches Music Alive at Memorial Middle School.
Alongside Jeremy and Kelsey, she leads the Jaguar A Cappella Program which boasts four contemporary a cappella groups in grades 7-12, three at Bradley High School and one at Memorial Middle School. She also serves as a co-director of Shades of Blue, Bradley High School’s premier contemporary a cappella group. In addition to local performances, Shades of Blue competes in the ICHSA tournament, completes recording projects released on various streaming platforms, maintains an active social media presence, and has regularly performed at national conferences in recent years. Anna’s love of contemporary a cappella music began when she was in high school, but really blossomed during her time at Miami University after she joined The TrebleMakers all-female a cappella group during her freshman year there. She served as the music director of the group for the following three years, leading the group to compete in the ICCA for the first time in group history. In this same competition Anna received awards for Outstanding Soloist and Outstanding Choreography her senior year.
Anna is passionate about teaching young singers, helping them reach their full potential, and is ultimately thankful that she gets to share her love of music with her students. She is also a member of the Ohio Music Education Association.
Kelsey D. Burkett

Raised in Solon, OH, Kelsey D. Burkett is a 2006 Graduate of Capital University, where she majored in Music Education and served as the alto section leader in the renown Chapel Choir. She completed her Masters of Music in Music Education and Kodaly Certification from Capital University in 2019. In her 20th year of teaching, she has a passion for the developing voice and middle school singers. She serves as the Director of Choirs at Hilliard Memorial Middle School, where she directs the 7th Grade Treble Choir, 8th Grade Treble Choir, and Blue Notes A Cappella. She also serves as the Young Musicians Instructor for the Columbus Children’s Choir.
Choirs under her direction have consistently received Superior and Excellent ratings and Grand Championships at the District, State, and National Contest levels. In June 2016, the MMS Choirs made their Carnegie Hall Debut as a part of the Songs of Inspiration and Hope Concert under the director of Mrs. Lori Loftus. In Summer of 2018, the MMS 8th Grade Treble Choir performed for the Ohio Choral Director’s Association Summer Conference at Otterbein University and in 2021 and 2025 were invited to perform at the Ohio Music Education Conference. Mrs. Burkett is a warrior for Social Justice within her community, and co-founded the Hilliard BIPOC Alliance, for her coworkers of color within the Hilliard City School District, working for change within and outside of their classrooms. Currently, she serves as the National Co-Chair for Contemporary/Commercial Choirs for the American Choral Directors Association and the Treble Honor Choir Chair for the Ohio Choral Directors Association.
In March 2020, she was awarded the 2020 Country Music Association Foundation’s Music Teachers of Excellence, one of only 10 teachers from across the United States.
Mrs. Burkett maintains an active singing career, performing with professional ensembles around the city of Columbus. She is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association and the Organization of American Kodaly Educators. Above all her professional accomplishments, her greatest joy is being mom to 6-year-old Harper, wife to Jen, and cat mom to Phil.
