Dear Memorial Families:

We are one week away from Winter break. Teachers will be communicating any tests or projects for the week. Students have been working hard and will be ready for a well-deserved break!

We have spoken with all of our students about the new cell phone rule that will take effect when we return in January. While students have done a great job with no phones in instructional areas, I know that lunchtime will be a challenge. We will work together during this time. We will also have board games and cards for students to play during lunch. We are looking forward to some good old-fashioned face-to-face communication!

We hope to see you all at our Holiday Fest on Tuesday evening. There will be an art and electives fair in the media center, a silent auction, and of course, our student performances! I look forward to seeing you all then. I’ve included the details above.

Silent Auction Information for Holiday Fest
Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization (501(c)(3)). Our mission is to ensure that children have a safe, comfortable bed of their own. We build, assemble, and deliver new twin-sized beds. These brand-new beds are complete with a mattress, sheets, pillow and bedding. We will never turn down an application, as our goal is to deliver the comfort of sleep to children and families in need who otherwise might be sleeping on floors, couches, or other inadequate sleeping surfaces throughout Franklin County. We operate strictly on donations. Whether it is brand new sheets, pillows, blankets, or a monetary donation, it ensures that more children are sleeping in warm beds every night. Join us for the silent auction to help achieve “No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town”.

On behalf of the staff here at MMS, I wish you an extraordinary and restful Winter Break! The next newsletter will come out before our return on January 5, 2026.

A Message from Our Guidance Department

As the weather begins to change, we want to ensure all students are comfortable and prepared during the school day. With colder temperatures approaching, student lockers are available for use every day. Simply stop in the Student Support/Guidance office in the morning or at lunch to get assigned a locker with Ms. Ysseldyke.

Please encourage your student to store any necessary items—such as Fitness apparel, jackets, hats, gloves, or extra layers—in their locker as needed. This will help them stay organized and ready for fluctuating weather conditions.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.

Thank you for your continued support!

Winter Break Staff Appreciation

A holiday thank-you to teachers –
On behalf of our families, the PTO is planning a special treat cart of yummy, fun goodies for our teachers. A little help from families will go a long way in making this happen. If you are able, donations are accepted at
https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/MMSPTOJAGS…. or Venmo @ HilliardMemorial-PTO. Thank you!

Coffee Connections Spirit Day – This Hilliard coffee shop will give back 10% of sales to the PTO on Thursday, 12/18 (all day, no code or flyer needed).

Spirit Wear – Thank you to those who ordered. Stay tuned for details on delivery or special pickup if you requested that.

DISTRICT NEWS

Kindergarten Registration Coming Soon
Hilliard City School District will begin Kindergarten Registration on January 12, 2026 for the 2026-27 school year.  Due to a recent change in Ohio law, school districts must now use a uniform age-eligibility cutoff for kindergarten enrollment. If your child will be five years of age on or before August 19, 2026, the first day of school for the 2026–2027 school year, they are eligible to start kindergarten that year. This replaces the previous September 30 cutoff.

Parents can access the registration website (on or after January 12, 2026) to complete online registration. Once you have completed the registration process and provided all required documentation, you will be given access to schedule your child’s kindergarten screening appointment for August. Please don’t delay.

Streamlining ParentSquare Notifications
We’re updating how you receive post notifications from our school. If you use the ParentSquare app and have both app and text notifications enabled, posts will now be delivered through the app first, with text messages sent only as a backup. This reduces duplicate notifications and makes it easier to keep track of updates.
Direct Messages and time-sensitive alerts will continue to be delivered through your preferred methods.
No action is required. If you haven’t downloaded the ParentSquare app or turned-on app notifications, we encourage you to do so.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions.
