Hispanic/LatinX Heritage Month: Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Check out the books about LatinX characters and by LatinX authors on display in the Media Center. There is also a Collection in Destiny Discover that focuses on the Media Center books that celebrate this month. Today’s featured books: Newberry Medal winner, Merci Suarez Changes Gears, and Merci Suarez Can’t Dance by Meg Medina. These books describe the life of a middle school girl in Florida who lives with her extended family and deals with fitting in at school and coming to terms with her beloved grandfather who has Alzheimer’s.
The Heritage Gymnastics team competed against Olentangy on Saturday September 24th. Strong performances were made by Addison Peters on vault and bars as well as by Shawnye Angel on vault and floor. Great job girls!!
