Dr. Mark Sholl
Dr. Mark Sholl is the Performing Arts Coordinator for the Hilliard City Schools. His responsibilities include overseeing the music budget and staffing for 13 elementary schools, two 6th grade schools, three middle schools, and three high schools and the ILC. Dr. Sholl is the music director of the Columbus Symphony Cadet Orchestra, one of four levels of youth orchestras associated with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. He has studied at The Peabody Conservatory, The University of Michigan, where he received a Bachelor of Music and The Ohio State University from which he received both his Master of Arts and Ph.D. His focus as Performing Arts Coordinator is to help assure the performing arts staff has the time, material and assistance needed to provide a quality performing arts experience for every student enrolled in the district’s numerous programs.
The Hilliard City Schools Performing and Related Arts Department strives to assure quality music, k-5 visual art, k-5 physical education and k-5 world languages, as well as theater education for every student across the district. From the kindergarten general music classes all the way through to the high school theater, band, orchestra, and choir offerings. Hilliard is recognized as a leader in performing arts throughout the state of Ohio.
Hilliard City Schools has:
- 26 different orchestras
- 31 different bands
- 26 different choirs
- Rock Bands, recording technology and other music courses at the ILC
- General Music, Visual Art, Physical Education, and World Languages are taught by a licensed music teacher at every elementary school in the district
