Research indicates a sense of belonging is positively associated with academic success and motivation. New students and their families at Hilliard Station’s Sixth Grade School are well on their way thanks to a recent event.
The school’s Wellness team, made up of Amy Graber, Alex Basiakos, Taylor Hannon and Jody Rapp, along with Sabine Canty, the community and school equity coordinator for the district’s innovation campus, hosted a night for students who are new to Hilliard City Schools and their families.
Canty said it was an opportunity for students and families to feel welcomed and to connect. The team shared information, answered questions, and provided gifts.
“I have every confidence our families left feeling like a closer part of our Cougar community,” said Erin Dooley, Station principal.
