Hilliard City Schools is proud to recognize this month’s Embrace, Empower, and Inspire Award recipients: Liz McClellan, Wellness Coordinator at Central Office; Dana Humm, teacher at Brown Elementary; and Dave Carter, custodian at Tharp Sixth Grade.
Liz McClellan
“Liz goes above and beyond to support staff in ways that feel genuine and meaningful. The wellness meetings she plans create space for staff to connect, reflect, laugh, and recharge—something that is so important in the work we do. She is incredibly approachable and dependable, always just a phone call away to offer support, encouragement, or simply a listening ear.
Liz brings warmth, positivity, and intention to everything she does. She truly understands the needs of our staff and creates opportunities that are thoughtful, inclusive, and realistic. Because of her, our staff feels more connected, supported, and valued. Our district is better because of her care and commitment.”
Dana Humm
“Dana goes above and beyond to support her students and their families. One parent shared how much it means to have a teacher who takes the time to stay informed, communicate, and provide reassurance during challenging situations.
She is thoughtful, caring, and consistently checks in to ensure her students feel supported both in and out of the classroom. Her compassion and dedication create a safe and positive environment where students and families feel truly cared for.”

“Dave has made a meaningful impact since joining our team through his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine care for others. He is a phenomenal collaborator who consistently goes out of his way to check in with staff and ask how he can help.
His thoughtfulness and willingness to support others have made a difference across the entire building. Dave’s presence strengthens our school community, and his dedication does not go unnoticed.”
