The Purpose of clubs and extracurricular activities at Hilliard Memorial Middle School is to provide students with learning opportunities in various venues outside the classroom, thus offering them experiences to grow as an individual.
Battle of the Books:

Battle of the Books is a reading competition between Hilliard middle schools. Teams of no more than 5 students read 12 titles chosen by media specialists and then go head to head with other teams answering questions about the books they read.
Blue Notes:

The Blue Notes are an A Capella group that is open to MMS Choir members who like to sing or perform vocal percussion. Blue Notes will perform a variety of Cappella arrangements of popular music. Blue Notes performs at all of the MMS Choir Concerts as well as extra performances throughout the year, including Hilliard Idol.
Diversity Club:

The club embraces diversity in our student population. We are committed to creating an environment that is open and accepting. We embrace students’ ethnicity, gender identity, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. We promote cultural understanding, positive relationships, and education throughout our school community. Students will share experiences, food, and ideas to enrich each other. We also hold a multicultural fair in May to showcase and celebrate our diversity.

The MMS GSA is an organization that wants to promote equal rights for all. All LGBTQ+ and Allies are welcome to attend. This group is a safe place to ask questions, make friends, learn about each other, and discuss ways to create a safe environment for everyone throughout MMS. GSA will also work closely with our friends from Weaver GSA and Heritage GSA to make Hilliard City Schools a positive and welcoming community!
Hilliard Kinetic Strings:

Open to: All HCSD 7th and 8th grade string students (6th grade possible with permission and previous experience).
Prerequisite: 6th and 7th grade orchestra

Kinetic Strings is a rock orchestra formed by students who like to play music “out of the box” of the traditional class setting. Repertoire includes rock, pop, jazz, and blues from all eras of music, and the group often performs for school and community events, representing the HCSD orchestra program.

This club creates leaders in our building. We stress 6 key components to help them lead in all aspects of their life.
Jazz Band:

Jazz is a fun, engaging activity where students learn and perform swing, blues, rock, and Latin styles of music.
MMS Math Club:

This club will explore activities related to math such as Rubik’s Cube, Krypto, Zome, Math Olympiads, Brain Teasers, and Spatial Reasoning Games.
MMS Musical:

Prerequisite: Actors/singers/dancers – Auditions and Callbacks in November
Stage Crew/Technicians – Sign up using the Information form and teacher recommendation
When and where we meet: Extensive after school commitment from late November through the first weekend of March
For the 2021-2022 school year, the three Hilliard middle schools will be combining for one Middle School Musical. The Musical to be performed will be James and the Giant Peach Jr. and will be under the direction of Mrs. Joy Grubbs, choir director at Hilliard Station. The musical is open to all current Hilliard 7th and 8th graders.
Each middle school now has a link directly to the musical details under the performing arts page/theater.
The musical auditions, rehearsals and performances will be held in the performance space of Hilliard Station. Transportation will be the responsibility of the families involved. The pay to play fee will be $60. Families may reach out if they need scholarships.

MMS Talent Show:

The MMS Talent Show will be held at the end of the school year. The Talent Show is open to anyone who wants to show off their unique talent, whether it be singing, dancing, acting, playing an instrument, showing off a video or visual art, juggling, or anything else that might be special! The more unique the talent, the better! Students must prepare their act and be ready to present it in an audition prior to the Talent Show. There will also be a need for Stage Crew in the Talent Show.
Nature Club:

Prerequisite: A love for nature, conservation and an interest in making a difference
When and where we meet: Monthly starting in October
This club will primarily focus on nature and the ways that we can take care of our environment so that we can have a symbiotic relationship with each other.
National Junior Honor Society:

Open to: Any 8th grade student who meets the qualifications
Prerequisite: 3.8+ cumulative GPA, two co-curricular activities, community activities and service hours
When and where we meet: 2nd semester in the media center
Students meeting the outlined criteria and who submit an application may be inducted into the NJHS. Members will focus on a service project during the second semester while continuing to uphold the pillars of NJHS; scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character.
Oratorical:

This club is a speaking club sponsored by the Hilliard Optimist Club. The club writes a prompt for participants to write about and deliver for judging.
Service Club:

This service club works to support various initiatives within the school and the community of Hilliard as well as the wider world. Students have helped to support the clean up of the community, specifically around Memorial and Bradley, support the Hilliard Food Pantry as well as a newly established food pantry at Memorial, and Ronald McDonald House. We have also led an initiative to sponsor a veteran for an Honor Flight. We will continue in all of these endeavors as well as entertain other causes.
Ski Club:

SODA stands for Students Opposed to Drugs and Alcohol. SODA is a laid back club that allows students to have fun, get involved, meet new people and learn how to live a healthy lifestyle. We do things together that promote a drug free lifestyle and we also spread the drug free message, making our school and community a better place.

This club gives exposure to Hispanic culture. Activities will include: art projects, movie night, religious traditions, dances, music genres, games, cooking, and a field trip to an authentic Mexican restaurant.

An opportunity for students to take a tour with their friends and experienced tour guides. Students will see Gettysburg, DC monuments, and more. The trip is four days jam packed with daily activities and the best sites of DC.
