Attention 8th Grade:  8th Grade Social is this Friday, from 6-8pm.  Tickets are $5.00 and sold at lunch.

Sports: 

Boy’s Volleyball: Both panthers team got a W on Monday night versus Westerville. Blue team rallied from losing the first set to win 2-1. After the weekend their record stands at 6-4.  Black team dropped their match of the year on Saturday but bounced back on Monday winning 2-0. Including a 25-9 first set. Record now at 9-1.

Girl’s Lacrosse:  The 8th grade girls lacrosse team got their first win last night against Memorial! The final score was 11-2 with goals scored by Tatum Boger, Genevieve West, Karynn Gross, Yara Milhelm, Maddie Windholtz, and Viv Moore. Sophia Bradley had over 10 saves that held the Jags to only 2 goals. Way to go!

Boy’s Lacrosse: Heritage Panthers won 10-6 over Hilliard memorial.  This is the 2nd straight win and bring the Panthers to 2-3 on the season.  The next game is this Wednesday away Vs Jones Middle School.

Arab American Heritage Month:
Munira Yasin Abdullahi represents the 9th House District in Columbus, Ohio, and is currently in 2023 the youngest serving member of the Ohio House of Representatives.  She is the first Muslim woman and the first Somali American to serve in the Ohio legislature.

Rep. Munira Yasin Abdullahi fled Somalia at the age of three with her parents.  She grew up in Columbus and earned a Political Science degree from The Ohio State University.  She works as the programs director for the Muslim American Society.

Boy’s Tennis:  Heritage boys tennis team won their match against Pickerington Lakeview Junior High School on 4/12/23

Boy’s Volleyball:  Boys VB took on Worthingway on Wednesday night. Blue team fell 0-2, putting their record at 5-2. Black team won 2-0, Owen friend tallied double digit kills for the panthers. Black teams record is at 7-0. Panthers are back in action Saturday at memorial for the Hilliard Tri.

ARCHIE GRIFFIN AWARD:  Archie Griffin is a two time Heisman Trophy winner from the Ohio Sate university.  During his high school and collegiate career, Mr. Griffin demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, integrity and ethics.  This award is given to one middle school male and one middle school female athlete from each school in the Ohio High School Athletic Association, and is the highest honor an athlete can achieve from our school.  Follow the link for more details. Arab American Heritage Month:  Ohio Governor Mike Dewine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted officially recognized the month of April as Arab American Heritage Month for the State of Ohio. The proclamation included in part the following: “We extend our gratitude to the Arab community for their efforts to showcase their heritage and to increase the awareness of Arab Americans’ historic past.” Arab American author Jasmine Warga has written the book, Other Words for Home which is in the Media Center.  It describes a girl named Jude who had to leave her brother and father behind in Syria, while she and her mom moved in with her aunt in Cincinnati. Jude’s life in America brings challenges and also new possibilities.  For other books about Arab Americans go to Destiny Discover and see the collection title Arab American Heritage Month.

8th Grade Baseball: 8th grade baseball lost 8-3 tonight against Worthington Perry. Ryker Jones pitched 3 strong innings and gave up only 1 run. Jensen Webb had 4 strikeouts in 2 innings. The next game is Thursday, April 13th at Hilliard Memorial.

8th Grade Softball: The eighth grade softball team won the home opener 15 – 14.  The entire team contributed to the win.  way to go ladies.  keep up the hard work
