Game Recap: HMS 7th Grade Boys vs. Bunsold
The Heritage Panthers earned a hard-fought 36–29 road victory over Marysville Bunsold last night in a competitive, physical battle that came down to execution and effort in the final quarter.
Heritage set the early tone, taking an 8–4 lead after the first quarter, but the Monarchs answered back, and the game was tied 17–17 at halftime. The Panthers continued to battle in a tight third quarter, edging ahead 27–26 heading into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, Heritage raised its level of play, outworking and outplaying the Monarchs on both ends of the floor to pull away for the win. The Panthers’ composure, defense, and teamwork proved to be the difference down the stretch.
Offensively, Ethan Smith led the way with 13 points, followed by Thomas Smith with 8 points and Luke Schimmoeller with 6 points. Cole Lybarger added 5 points, while Jacob Maul and Caden Ludban each chipped in 2 points.
Defensively, Brandt Windholz and Dylan Vincent provided strong contributions, helping limit scoring opportunities. Luke Kosarko, Carter Holstein, and Conor Moore all logged quality minutes, rounding out a true team effort in a gritty win.
The Panthers will look to build on this momentum when they return home next Tuesday against Upper Arlington Jones.
Great win, Panthers! 🐾
Game Recap: HMS 8th Grade Boys vs. Jones
The Heritage 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team snapped a two-game skid Tuesday night with a hard-fought 27–21 home win over U.A. Jones, improving to 9–3 on the season. The Panthers set the tone early with strong team defense and disciplined offense, jumping out to a 14–3 first-quarter lead behind early scoring from Myles Sankey and Braxton Wingo.
While scoring slowed in the second quarter, Heritage’s defense remained solid, taking a 17–11 lead into halftime. The intensity increased in the second half, with Amir Keita anchoring the defense and Zavier Hunter adding key points as the Panthers held a 21–16 edge entering the fourth.
The game came down to free throws, and Heritage delivered, shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the line. Maddox Hart and Hunter were especially clutch, helping seal the victory. The Panthers will look to carry that momentum into Thursday night’s matchup at Worthingway Middle School.
