Students in Astronomy classes at Hilliard Davidson High School recently had the opportunity to bring their learning to life with a visit to the National Museum of the United States Air Force. During a guided tour of the museum’s Missile and Space Galleries, students explored the history of space exploration through real artifacts and immersive exhibits.

Throughout the visit, students engaged with historic pieces from the United States space program, including a Titan rocket, Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo spacecraft, as well as a full-size replica space shuttle. The experience provided a unique, hands-on connection to topics studied in the classroom.

Students had the opportunity to explore the museum, choosing exhibits that ranged from the early era of flight to the Cold War. Many also experienced the rare opportunity to board multiple versions of Air Force One, deepening their understanding of aviation history.

Now in its second year, this field trip continues to be a valuable and engaging learning experience for students. Teachers and students alike are already looking forward to returning next year for another opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world exploration.
