The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) provides an opportunity for career exploration. Students need to contact their recruiter to schedule a time to take the test.

Test date: October 14, 2020
The PSAT test is only to Juniors only. It is a great opportunity to practice for the SAT and provides an opportunity for juniors to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Competition. SAT or ACT How are they different?

The SAT is traditionally thought of as a test that measures a student’s critical thinking skills, testing their ability to analyze and solve problems in Math, Reading and Writing.
3 hour, 45 minute examination
Heavy vocabulary
Tested on Algebra and Geometry
Math = 50% of score
Not based on school curriculum
Guessing penalty
No Science
No English grammar
Math formulas provided
-1/4 point deduction for wrong answer
Writing section
ACT
The ACT is considered a more “curriculum based” test, since it tests their academic preparedness for college in the areas of English, Math, Reading and Science specifically by calling on information they have learned in their high school coursework.

Tested on Alg., Geom., & Trig.
Math = 25% of score

Attention Juniors – Register for Hilliard Darby ACT Review (Bootcamp) Course 2020
Registration is open for the Hilliard Darby ACT Review Course which will be held on March 12, 2020 from 7:40 to 2:00 in the Hilliard Darby PAC. Registration fee is $60. To register, bring your payment to Mrs. Leeka in the Guidance Office no later than Friday, March 6, 2020. Payment must be made by check or money order payable to ACT Review, LLC.
