General Information

WHEN AND WHERE ARE PTO MEETINGS?

• 2nd Wednesday of every month
• 6:30 – 7:30 pm in the SDE Teacher’s Lounge
• We review the PTO budget, discuss upcoming events, and hear updates from SDE staff on what’s been happening at school.

Every dollar raised from PTO activities helps our school. Every hour volunteered is appreciated. And, every activity PTO funds make a difference.  Together, we can support our students, teachers, and our school.

Whether it’s collecting box tops, joining a PTO meeting, or giving just $10, please consider participating in PTO. All are welcome!

Our Mission

The Scioto Darby Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is dedicated to enriching students’ education in partnership with parents, teachers, and staff. We believe by bridging the gap between parents and teachers, the students become more engaged in learning. We incorporate our students, families, SDE faculty, and the community to celebrate our school. We raise funds and sponsor events that enhance learning opportunities and build school spirit.

There are so many ways to get involved. Here are just a few of the ways you can engage:

• Attend monthly PTO meetings
• Donate to PTO-sponsored fundraisers throughout the year (Walk-a-Thon, Flower Sale, etc)
• Spread the word about Spirit Nights & PTO events with your network
• Volunteer for PTO-supported events throughout the year

ACTIVITIES

The PTO supports both one-time and annual events, enrichment programs and permanent improvements at the school such as our playground shade structure. Below are a few highlights for this year but be sure to read the PTO section of your weekly E-News to stay up to date on all the ways you can engage!

Field Day: Friday, May 21, 2027

Held in mid-May, Field Day is a school and student highlight of the year. In addition to the PTO financial support, many volunteers are needed to help the SDE staff.

Field Trips & Other Student Events

The PTO supports bussing costs for nearly all student field trips throughout the year. In addition, PTO funds materials for classroom activities, enrichment programs, a fifth-grade celebration, the Momentum program and other great special events each year.

Flower Sale: February Sale and Flower Pick-up in May

Each spring we partner with Foertmeyer & Sons Greenhouse to sell beautiful spring flowers. Parents volunteer on delivery day to help ensure all of our orders find their way to their new homes. This is our second-largest fundraiser of the year. 

Meet the Teacher: Monday, August 17, 2026

Stop by the PTO table on Meet the Teacher night to meet representatives from the PTO and learn how you can engage with the PTO throughout the year. 

Movie Night: Date TBD

A fun night to bring the family and enjoy our community, while watching a movie in the SDE gym that everyone can enjoy.  Free event and snacks are available for purchase. 

Scholastic Book Fair: Oct 12-15, 2026 & May 3-7, 2027

Twice a year SDE hosts a book fair where parents and children can browse and purchase books. Proceeds from the sales are received as credits for the Scholastic Store that our SDE teachers and staff use to purchase classroom supplies. 

Spirit Nights: Monthly

Parent volunteers work with various local businesses to set up Spirit Nights where our school can earn a portion of the proceeds from the designated evening or activity. Each month features a new partner! Proceeds from the evening’s event help support PTO activities. Follow us on social media @sdepantherspto and share with those in your network! 

Spring Fling: Thursday, May 6, 2027

Join us for this great family event! Enjoy student art, watch the second-grade musical and buy raffle tickets for amazing raffle baskets.  A selection of food trucks will be available for dinner and sweet treats.

Teacher Hospitality

From bringing in dinners to stocking the lounge with snacks and drinks, we work to ensure our teachers, staff and administrators are appreciated throughout the year through our hospitality work.

Walk-a-Thon: October 9, 2026

Each year we host a Walk-a-Thon to engage students in raising funds from family and friends before spending a fun-filled day walking (or running!) around the school track and enjoying music, snacks and other lighthearted celebrations. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Many volunteers are needed.
