National Black Poetry Day

Yesterday, October 17th, was National Black Poetry Day. This day honors past and present African-American poets, and celebrates the importance of black heritage and literacy. It also recognizes the contributions made by black poets and shows appreciation to African-American authors. Poets such as Langston Hughes, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Maya Angelou have forever impacted poetry in the United States.

Cardboard Haunted House Contest cc. Cc

Mrs. Fout and the Media Center will be hosting a Cardboard Haunted House Contest this year. If interested, make an original handmade haunted house at home using cardboard for the structure and any non-edible decorations to embellish the house and the base. Houses can be dropped off at the Media Center today until next Monday, October 25th. Students and staff will vote from October 25th through the 28th, and the winner will be announced on October 29th. Girls’ Basketball Tryouts

Tryouts for the Girls’ Basketball Team are October 25th-27th from 3-5 in the WMS gym.

Boys’ Basketball Tryouts

Boys interested in trying out for the WMS basketball teams, you need to register by scanning the QR code that is on the flyer across from room 206, or across from the Media Center. 8th Graders will try out from October 25th through the 27th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. 7th Graders will try out on the same dates from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Players & Parents must fill out the COVID Waiver on Final Forms prior to attending any basketball activities. Weaver Ski & Board Club 

The WMS Ski & Board Club will have an informational meeting on the evening of Monday, October 25th at 7:00 PM in the Weaver commons. While the meeting is not mandatory to join the club, parents and students are encouraged to attend. In the coming days information will become available on the Weaver website, so check there for more information! If you have questions, please see Mr. Banyots in the Media Center.

Hilliard Idol

Hilliard Bradley High School will once again be hosting Hilliard Idol. Auditions begin on Saturday, November 13th. The Finals take place on Saturday, November 20th. Scan  the QR code that can be found on the flyers by the Media Center or across from Mr. DeChant’s room. This packet provides all the information, including the Entry Form that must be submitted. Cross Country

We want to give a special thanks to Coach Vipperman, Coach Barta, and Coach Baumer. Thank you for helping us achieve all of our goals this year. You have helped us to always do our best and to stay positive. You have been amazing coaches and we will never forget this year! Also, on October 24th, the top 7 runners for boys and girls will compete at States. Good luck Cats!
