8th Grade Girls Interested In Playing Soccer at Davidson

Please sign up for the email distribution list on the Davidson Girls’ Soccer Website at http://davidsonladycatssoccer.weebly.com/2022-tryout-player-profile.html. Coach Usner will be at Weaver during all lunch periods on Tuesday December 14th to meet 8th graders, help players sign up, and answer any questions. Also, there will be a player/parent meeting sometime in the spring to discuss summer and fall schedules!

Book Bingo Reading Challenge Update

The Book Bingo Challenge will end this Friday. Students have two ways to be entered into the drawing – by completing a bingo on the card or getting any six squares stamped. Students who have a bingo or six squares completed need to see Mrs. Fout in the Media Center to enter the drawing – that is the only way to be entered into the drawing! The drawing will be held this Friday, and the prizes are a $20 gift card to Cover to Cover book store, and two $10 gift cards to Half Priced Books.

Wrestling

On Saturday, December 4th, the Wrestling Team participated in the Dillon Lanthorn Memorial Tournament at Centerburg. The team finished 6th out of 20 Teams and had 3 wrestlers make it to the finals. In the 92 pound weight class, Jute Marihugh finished runner-up. In the 150 pound class, Dayne Schmidt placed 2nd as well. And finally, Jake Lawrence was also runner-up in the 160 pound grouping. Great job to all wrestlers for persevering against excellent competition last Saturday!

On Wednesday, December 8th the Wrestling Team had a Dual Match against Upper Arlington Jones MS. Jones MS won the Dual 54-39, but our wrestlers did a great job and worked very hard.  Winners of their matches were Jute Marihugh, Issac Kolb, Dayne Schmidt, Jake Lawrence, Joey Cannistra, Grady Kowleski, and Myloh Arrasmith.

8th Grade Girls’ Basketball

Last week, the 8th grade girls’ basketball team won both of their games. On Tuesday, they defeated Dublin Davis, 42-15.  Top performers in that game were Anna Wile- 13 points, Abby Starr- 7 points, Addison Ruhe- 6 points, and Sophie Onderak- 6 points. On Thursday, the girls defeated Finland, 59-13. Celia Schulte and Anna Wile each finished in double figures, with Celia scoring 18 and Anna 13. Also, Addison Ruhe had 8 points and Chloe Crawford had 7, while Giana Campbell made the play of the game!

8th Grade Boys’ Basketball

The 8th grade boys basketball team had another successful week, winning two games. On Tuesday, the Cats quickly jumped out to the lead against Dublin Davis and never looked back.

Reece Hemmert had 17 points and Rome Jacob added 8, while a host of Wildcats scored between 2 and 6 points. On Thursday, the blue and white beat Finland with great defensive pressure and intensity. Reece Hemmert had another big scoring night, accounting for 15 points, while Dave Schuster complemented him with 8 points.  The defense was exemplary, holding Finland to only 15 total points.

7th Grade Girls’ Basketball

The 7th grade girls basketball team had 2 great wins on the road last week. It began Tuesday when they defeated Dublin Davis 33-6. Leading the Wildcats was Carmella Biedenbach with 11, and Maddie Lahmers and Sophie Smith both contributed 6 each.  Also, Cami Gassin knocked down 2 free throws to end the game. Thursday night, the Cats defeated Finland, 48-2. Leading scorers were Maddie Lahmers with 15, Sophie Smith with 10 and Lexi Aleshire with 7. Great job cats, and good luck this week!!

7th Grade Boys’ Basketball

The 7th grade boys’ basketball team split a pair of games last week, losing on Tuesday in a tough one, while winning on Thursday in a thriller. In Thursday’s win, Tyler Bennett had a late game steal and then made 2 clutch free throws to send it into overtime. In OT, Pete Martin knocked the ball loose on defense with the Cats up one point, securing the win! The Cats will look to build off this exciting win tomorrow night.

Flex Girls’ Basketball

The Girls’ Flex Basketball team played twice last week. Leading the way on offense were Erica Kaulen, Kyndall Hunton, and Ashley Hess. Key defensive contributions were made by Quinn Hoy, Raimar(ray-mar) Contrera, and Kate Nussbaum. The girls play Heritage tonight @ 5:30 at Weaver. Go Cats!

Flex Boys’ Basketball

The Wildcat Flex Boys’ Basketball team has fought their way to a solid start. The Cats have had great leadership in the backcourt by Jaiden Brown and Marcus Thiaw while Michael Thomas and Bo Hulme lead the way on the inside through the first 5 games. Facing a fast, hungry Liberty Christian team this past Saturday, the Cats used stifling defense to get the 32-13 win, limiting their opponent to just 4 points in the second half. The Cats continue this Wednesday at Memorial with their last game before the New Year.
