It seems like just yesterday we were preparing for convocation and welcoming students for the first day of school.
The 90 degree days with evening sunshine have given way to darkness in early evening, leaves falling from the trees, and a bite in the nighttime air.
It has been a great start to our school year in Hilliard. From the iPad distribution days for our middle school students to the shift to Canvas as our learning management system – we are doing business better. We are utilizing textbooks written in iBook author by our own teachers – resources better than anything we could purchase. Hilliard is doing more with data; we are utilizing the KidzMet survey to add learning and personality styles to our toolbox as we strive to personalize learning for every student. In our classrooms and with our resources . . . we are doing business better.
All three Hilliard marching bands earned “Superior” ratings at the Ohio Music Educator Association’s State Band Finals. Our theater programs are providing students the opportunity to excel on stage and our artists’ creativity is on display in our buildings. From the cardboard challenge in our elementary schools to the extended learning opportunities at Horizon Elementary . . . our students have the opportunities to excel, learn, and grow each day.
With 24 National Merit Recognized students, a full menu of AP Classes and our College Jump Start partnership with Columbus State Community College, we are providing students a plethora of opportunities to stretch themselves academically and to be better prepared for the college experience. With the Innovative Learning Center offering over 65 full-time online courses, a rock studio, a video studio, pre-professional programs in partnership with Tolles Career Center, and flexible learning options we are personalizing education for all Hilliard students.
And your school district has accomplished all of this . . . we continue to innovate, educate, and engage our students better . . . while stretching the promise of the 2011 levy from three years to five years. Doing business better means providing a higher quality education – an education that gets better each and every day – in a fiscally responsible manner. We aren’t adding . . . we are evolving. We aren’t changing for the sake of change . . . we are relentless in our pursuit of excellence. It isn’t simply what we do . . . it is in our DNA. We strive to do business better; we strive to prepare every student to be Ready for Tomorrow.
