It’s so important for our schools to establish a positive classroom culture and routines. Students in all grade levels at Hoffman Trails Elementary have been working on social-emotional learning such as what it means to be a good teammate, having a growth mindset and working hard when things aren’t always easy. The fifth graders read the book The Hard Hat by Jon Gordon. It is a true story about a young man who possessed many fine qualities such as a strong work ethic, compassion, loyalty and more. He used these traits as a leader to inspire his team and program. The students at Hoffman Trails are putting forth their best effort every day as they grow to be Ready for Tomorrow.
The students in School Counselor Laurie Hawley groups at Washington also spent time with this book. Mrs. Halwey wanted her students to know that when they put forth the effort and work together they can create a culture and community where we can all succeed.
