K-5 Details

Summer Bridge for grades K-5 is divided into a morning academic support session and multiple afternoon enrichment camp experiences.  Students may register for morning academic support and afternoon enrichment, but also have the opportunity to choose only one of those two options. Locations for K-5 Summer Bridge will be JW Reason Elementary, Hilliard Horizon Elementary, Hilliard Crossing Elementary, and Beacon Elementary.  Student enrollment in a particular building will be based on their proximity to each location.

Morning academic support and afternoon enrichment will take place at the same elementary building for each student. Families can choose morning only, afternoon only or all day (choosing the afternoon camp they want to attend).

Therefore, if a student is registered for both academic support and one of the afternoon enrichment programs, they will stay at one location for the full day. Students who participate in the morning only, afternoon only or both morning and afternoon programs will be provided a free lunch.

Here’s the most exciting part of this program: it is no cost to your family and transportation will be provided to all students regardless of program selection.

Morning academic support will take a blended approach with a focus on math and reading while also building in fun activities, recreation, and social-emotional learning.  Academic support is designed for students who have experienced significant learning loss due to the pandemic. Teachers will utilize student information from the current school year to boost learning and retention in the areas of math and reading.  Academic support consists of a block of reading instruction and a block of math instruction, with recreational and social-emotional learning activities built into the morning. Students in the morning session will be provided a free lunch.

Afternoon enrichment Students begin with a free lunch and participate in a day camp experience. There are two-afternoon options a child can choose from:

  1. Hilliard City Schools Afternoon Enrichment
Students will explore a number of activities provided by certified Hilliard City Schools teachers that fall under the categories of STEM, literacy/language, and art, while also involving recreation. Afternoon enrichment camp will provide an active and fun approach to engage students.
  2. Festa Summer Lunch Camp (formerly SON Ministries)
Festa Summer Lunch Camp will take place at the same student location and time as the Hilliard Enrichment Camp for 8 weeks Monday-Friday. Festa Summer Lunch Camp will offer activities like recreation, arts & crafts, reading support, and other special events. For more information and to sign up:  Festa Summer Lunch Camp Information
