Grades 6-8 Details
Summer Bridge for Grades 6-8 is divided into a morning academic support session and an afternoon enrichment experience. Students may register for academic support and enrichment, but also have the opportunity to choose only one of the two options. The location for Grades 6-8 Summer Bridge will be at the Innovative Learning Hub.
Here’s the most exciting part of this program: it is no cost to your family and transportation to and from the Innovative Learning Hub is provided, as needed.
Please note that this is a lottery process and confirmation of students’ participation will be sent out around May 7th.
Morning Academic Support will focus on math or reading while also building in engaging activities combined with social-emotional learning opportunities. Student registration will be for either math or reading support. If students would like to receive reading and math support, they would need to register for both the June and July sessions. Students will work with certified Hilliard City School teachers to refine academic skills and prepare for a strong start to the next school year. The reading support will strengthen a student’s skills and understanding as an active reader in order to help transition to the following year’s English Language Arts class. Math support will focus on strengthening number sense and deepening student’s understanding of foundational math concepts in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
Afternoon Enrichment programs provide students with various course offerings to explore. Students may register for a number of activities provided by certified Hilliard City School teachers that fall under various categories, including STEM, literacy/language, art, games, social-emotional learning, and music. Afternoon enrichment camp sessions will provide an active and holistic approach to engage students. Course descriptions are listed below.
If students would like an afternoon enrichment experience, but are not interested in any of the Hilliard enrichment courses then they have the option to attend Festa Summer Lunch Camp. Festa Summer Lunch Camp offers a number of activities ranging from arts and crafts, summer reading support, and recreation. Learn more about Festa Summer Lunch Camp
