Sixth Grade Economics

Hilliard City Schools

Station students work on lessonStudents at Station Sixth Grade School are studying economics and the effects of supply and demand in their Social Studies classes. Students are asked to create shapes and then “sell them” to the trader. Based on the types of shapes students draw and cut out the price goes up and down. If the quality of the shapes is not good or they don’t meet requirements for exact size and shape, then the trader can refuse to buy them because the product is not of good quality and they must start over. Students must decide which shapes are easiest to make and produce in quantities depending on the advantages of making shapes based on their prices. Ready for Tomorrow means mastering skills that will help them flourish in the business world of tomorrow.
