Brown Elementary students had the opportunity to work with local fashion designer, Kelli Martin, of Project Runway fame. This was made possible through a grant from The Tween Brands. She taught students about her background in fashion, what inspires her work, and how being unique helps her to create one-of-a-kind looks. She worked with art teacher Rachel Murdock and students to make designs for custom Brown Elementary t-shirts. She was able to help them combine everything into three unique designs. Students were involved hands-on from start to finish, choosing shirt and ink colors, and even printing their own shirts. Seeing a project through, from design to production, gives these students a true authentic opportunity to learn about art and design.
