The AWS Girls’ Tech Day is back for 5th through 8th Grade Hilliard girls and other Central Ohio students. Registration is now over The event took place on October 21, 2022, from 9 am to 1:30 pm at COSI. What: Girls’ Tech Day When: October 21, 2022, from 9 AM to 1:30 PM Where: COSI – Center of Science and Industry – 333 W Broad St, Columbus, OH 43215 Who: 250 seats available for Hilliard 5th-8th Grade Girls It will be a day to inspire a new generation of women in technology through interactive workshops like coding, robotics, AR/VR, and more.
Hilliard City Schools is actively engaging the community in defining what Ready for Tomorrow means. This will be a collective vision that articulates our community’s aspirations for all our students. Once this is complete, we will develop a strategic plan and a roadmap to help our schools make the vision come to life in our classrooms. This will be an additional set of meeting starting in the winter of 2023. It’s important that our strategic plan reflect the hopes and aspirations our entire community has for our young people! The Strategic Design Team members will meet four times over the next few months: Meeting 1: October 25 at Heritage Middle School, 6- 8:30 pm Meeting 2: November 15 at Heritage Middle School, 6- 8 pm Meeting 3: December 8 at Heritage Middle School, 6- 8 pm Meeting 4: January 12 at Heritage Middle School, 6- 8 pm If you are interested in applying to be a part of this work, please fill out the Google form below. We will notify those who will be participating on the committee in early October. Not all who apply are guaranteed a spot on the committee.

Part of the Darby System, Big Darby Creek, is located within the boundaries of the Hilliard City School District. The rapid growth of Hilliard has brought the watershed to the attention of the community. The extensive building in the area may certainly have an impact on the ecology of the Darby System. Darby Creek watershed, including Big and Little Darby Creeks, is an important water resource in central Ohio and the entire Midwest. Ohio is one of the few states in the country that measures the health of its streams and rivers by examining the number and types of fish and macroinvertebrates living in the water. Natural resource professionals from private, public, and academic institutions are unanimous in citing these streams as among the most biologically diverse streams of their size in the Midwest. Big and Little Darby Creeks have been designated as State and National Scenic Rivers, and the watershed is known to provide habitat for several state and federally listed endangered species. As teachers, we feel that it is important for the students to learn about this impact by actually monitoring the creek for macroinvertebrates. Our Transportation Team is once again excited to announce the First Time Riders Event will take place on August 13, from 8 AM until Noon at Weaver Middle School. Your student can learn about bus safety, ride a bus, and have more fun. It’s a great opportunity to introduce young students to riding a bus for the first time.
