GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Today’s Hispanic Heritage Month trivia is that today, September 16th, is Mexico’s independence day!

College visits are up and ready for you to sign up. You can sign up in your Naviance account and all visits will be virtual for this school year. This is who has signed up for the month of September – Ohio University, Kent State, Youngstown, The University of Findlay, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and Bowling Green. Additions happen on a daily basis. Make sure to log into Naviance to schedule your virtual visit and to see daily updates. Stop by Guidance if you have any questions.

Attention all students! Mark your calendars for our Movie in the Park event at Huntington Park on Sunday, October 4th. Doors will open at 6:00PM. Tickets are $10 and they will go on sale next week beginning with Seniors on Monday, Juniors on Tuesday, Sophomores on Wednesday and Freshman on Thursday. Get your tickets before they are all gone as this event is only open to 1,000 guests.

Applications are now being accepted for Student Mentors. Are you wondering what a Student Mentor is? A Student Mentor is the connection that a new student makes, who they can rely on for support, as they get used to our school. To name a few things you would be responsible for: a walk-through of their schedule, a visit to the Media Center to get their iPad, and a tour of the school. If you like meeting and helping others, this may be the club for you. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and the application deadline is tomorrow, (Thursday). Please see Mrs. Mongolier with any questions.

PSAT Registration will run through September 28th. This year, this optional testing opportunity will be for 11th grade students only. Payments are preferred in My Payments Plus, but the $23 registration fee can also be made with Mrs. Dennis in the Counseling Office. This test provides 11th grade students with practice for the spring SAT and is also an opportunity to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. This test will take place the morning of October 14th. See Mr. Anderson with any questions.

Juniors and seniors that are eligible to apply for National Honor Society will be notified in the next month. Thank you for your patience as we adjust our application process due to COVID-19 restrictions.
