Do you enjoy discussing local, national, and global issues? If so, then the Davidson Speech and Debate Club is for you! The Debate Club is now meeting weekly, so join us after school on Tuesdays in room 202 to join the debate!

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

On September 21, 1981, Belize was declared an independent nation, free from Britain’s ruling. Annually, to celebrate this historic moment, the entire month of September is filled with festivities, activities and celebrations that show the citizens’ patriotism for the country.

We have spirit, yes we do! We love seeing you all dressed up for twin day! Reminder that each day the 2 best dressed students will win FREE homecoming tickets! Congrats to Brynn Conrad and Max Cairns for winning PJ Day! To enter, follow Student Council on instagram at hdhs.sc and DM us your picture by 10 am each day. We will pick the top 4 best dressed and allow the student body to vote on the final 2 winners! The rest of this weeks spirit days are Wednesday is wacky day, Thursday is biggest fan day, and Friday is neon day!

Attention College-Bound Juniors
The PSAT test will be administered at each high school on Wednesday, October 13th from 7:40-11:00am. This is a great opportunity for you to practice for the SAT (which all juniors will take for free at in the spring) and provides an opportunity for juniors to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Competition. The cost is $24 and registration is open September 6th through the 24th. Sign up and pay through MyPaymentsPlus.

As part of Homecoming Week, Student Council is hosting a movie night Wednesday, September 22nd at the stadium. Based on your votes, we will be showing Jumanji! Doors open at 7:30 and the movie starts at 8. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door- cash only! Bring a blanket and some friends to watch on the turf!

Wildcats, it’s homecoming week! Homecoming is this Saturday, September 25th from 7:30-10:30 pm at Davidson’s Stadium. Dress is semi-formal with no heels on the turf! Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online through Hometown Ticketing. The link can be found through Davidson’s website! When you purchase your ticket, the password to unlock tickets is your Student ID number. Each Student ID number can only be used once. We hope to see you there!

We have three colleges visiting Davidson this week. On Wednesday we have Indiana University-Bloomington and Shawnee State and on Friday we have Grand Canyon University-Traditional Campus. Next week we have the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Walsh, Kentucky, Baldwin Wallace, Lynn University, Muskingum, Ohio Dominican, Mount Union and Cleveland State. Juniors and Seniors, sign up in Naviance for a visit.

SPORTS:

Any boys interested in playing volleyball are welcome to join open gyms at the Davidson main gym on Sundays from 5 to 7pm. Any questions email Coach Herring.
