The Environmental Club is having its first meeting after school on Friday September 24 in Room 216. New members are welcome! If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Bloom.

FRESHMEN! Do you want to be a leader at Davidson? Be a part of planning school-wide events like Homecoming and Prom? If so, apply to be a member of Davidson’s Student Council this year! The application is now available on your Class of 2025 Canvas page under the Clubs module. Applications and teacher recommendations are due by Friday, October 1st. GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

With 329 million native speakers, Spanish ranks as the world’s No. 2 language in terms of how many people speak it as their first language. It is slightly ahead of English (328 million) but behind Chinese (1.2 billion).

We have spirit, yes we do! We love seeing you all dressed up for neon day! Reminder that each day the 2 best dressed students will win FREE homecoming tickets! Congrats to yesterday’s winners Sammy Knight, Lillian Livingston & Alli Garner! To enter, follow Student Council on instagram at hdhs.sc and DM us your picture by 10 am each day. We will pick today’s winners by noon and tag you on Instagram. Please head to the main office to pick up your tickets before leaving today.

Attention College-Bound Juniors
The PSAT test will be administered at each high school on Wednesday, October 13th from 7:40-11:00am. This is a great opportunity for you to practice for the SAT (which all juniors will take for free at in the spring) and provides an opportunity for juniors to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Competition. The cost is $24 and registration is open September 6th through the 24th. Sign up and pay through MyPaymentsPlus.

Wildcats, it’s homecoming week! Homecoming is this Saturday, September 25th from 7:30-10:30 pm at Davidson’s Stadium. Dress is semi-formal with no heels on the turf! Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online through Hometown Ticketing. The link can be found through Davidson’s website! When you purchase your ticket, the password to unlock tickets is your Student ID number. Each Student ID number can only be used once. Ticket sales close on Saturday at 5:00pm. We hope to see you there!

We have colleges visiting Davidson this week. Today we have Grand Canyon University-Traditional Campus. Next week we have the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Walsh, Kentucky, Baldwin Wallace, Lynn University, Muskingum, Ohio Dominican, Mount Union and Cleveland State. Juniors and Seniors, sign up in Naviance for a visit.

Next week we have the following colleges visiting us – sign up in Naviance for a pass to be sent to you to attend the visit.

SPORTS:

Any boys interested in playing volleyball are welcome to join open gyms at the Davidson main gym on Sundays from 5 to 7pm. Any questions email Coach Herring.

Intramurals is hosting Ultimate Frisbee on Sundays from 5-6:30. If you’d like to join, go to your class canvas page and join the HDV Intramurals canvas course for details. Please make sure to submit covid and emergency medical forms before the first meeting.

Attention any girl, grade 9-12, interested in playing basketball that is not currently involved in a fall sport – the girls basketball program will be holding open gym each Sunday at Davidson from 7-8:30 pm through October 17.
