Happy Birthday Bob Marley!  Bob Marley was a Jamaican singer, musician and songwriter. He served as a world ambassador for reggae music and sold more than 20 million records throughout his career..  In 1965, he released the song “One Love”.  The lyrics mainly preach love and unity among the people of the world. In the song, Marley calls on all us to put our differences aside and come together as one.

Today we celebrate Ruby Bridges. At only 6 years old, she was the first African-American child to desegregate an all-white elementary school  in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1960. Currently, Bridges tours the country as a civil rights activist and author. She is sharing her experience with a new generation of kids in her latest children’s book, I Am Ruby Bridges.

To celebrate the first day of Black History Month we are celebrating Langston Hughes. He was born on February 1st 1902.  Langston Hughes was an African American writer whose poems, columns, novels and plays made him a leading figure in the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. 

Wildcats, ticket sales are currently low for Winter Formal. We will be checking numbers again on Friday at noon to determine if our ticket sales are high enough. If you plan on going to the dance, please purchase your tickets soon so we know our numbers! Tickets can be found on Local level. The link was sent out in your Class of Canvas course. 

Attention seniors – scholarships are in Schoolinks and more are being added this week.  There are many that you may qualify for, and deadlines are approaching starting in February.  Stop in Guidance with any questions.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, located in Daytona Beach, Florida and Prescott, Arizona.  Graduates from Embry-Riddle go on work for companies such as NASA, Space X, Blue Origin, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Google, and many others!  Embry-Riddle will visit Davidson on Monday, February 5th at 8:30. If you are interested in talking with a representative, see Mrs. Mongolier in the Guidance Office.

The Davidson Quiz Team will be playing their last regular season match at home against New Albany this Thursday.  Students should meet up in room 119 after school to finish out the season strong and beat the Eagles!  

Interact Club is hosting a dress clothes drive during all lunch periods from Monday to Friday. You can donate dresses, pants, or shirts on any day this week and shop starting Wednesday.

The Environmental Club will be meeting after school this Friday, February 2 in room 216. New members are always welcome!
