In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month we recognize the Pura Belpré Award. This award, established in 1996, is presented to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth. 

Congratulations to the Wildcat Marching band who competed at Valley High School over the weekend. They earned straight superior ratings from all 7 judges and walked away with Best Color Guard, Best Percussion, and Grand Champ! Way to go Wildcat Band!!

This weekend, Davidson Theatre will present its first show of the year – Peter/Wendy. You don’t want to miss this creative adaptation of Peter Pan performing Friday night at 7 and Saturday and Sunday afternoon at 2. Tickets are available at hilliarddavidsontheatre.com or at the door.

The Davidson Wrestling team will have a Parent informational meeting on Oct. 18. The meeting will start at 6pm in the commons. ALL boys and girls interested in wrestling this season are welcome to attend . 

There is a mandatory meeting for anyone who wants to play boys lacrosse for the 2023-2024 season on Monday October 9th at 7 PM in the Davidson Commons. 

Attention all girls interested in playing Girls Lacrosse this season. There will be an informational meeting on October 17th at 7:00pm in the PAC. Please make sure the player and a parent is in attendance as well. We  will go over details of the off season program, as well as information on the upcoming season. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month we recognize Roberto Clemente. Roberto Clemente was one of the greatest Latino baseball players of all time.  He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and helped them win the World Series in 1960 and 1971.  There is a statue of him outside of PNC Park in Pittsburgh.  He was also a humanitarian who worked in the off-season organizing charity drives and donating his time and money.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage month we recognize Mario José Molina-Pasquel Henríquez.  Mario Molina is a chemist who studied in Mexico and Germany before coming to the United States to study the effects of man-made compounds on the ozone layer. Molina won a Nobel Prize in 1995 for his crucial work in understanding how the ozone layer is formed and depleted.

In 1993 Ochoa became the first Hispanic woman to go to space when she served on a nine-day mission aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery.

Please join us in congratulating our very own Ms. Clausen, who has recently been named The Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators, Assistant Principal of the Year. This is attributed to the amazing work Ms. Clausen does here at Davidson on behalf of our staff and students. She will receive her award at a banquet in October and will now represent the state of Ohio as the National Assistant Principal of the Year. Congratulations, Ms. Clausen!!!!

Chavez was an American civil rights activist who fought for improving the treatment, pay, and working conditions for farm workers.  He started a union for migrant farm workers. He was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom after his death in 1993.
