Movie Night in the Stadium
The movie night we had last year down at Huntington Park was a success so we have decided to do the same thing but here at Darby.  Movie night will be Wednesday, September 15th,  from 8:00 pm-10:00 pm in the stadium.  Cost for entry will be $2 and can be purchased during lunches on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday (9/13-9/15), or at the time of entry.  More information with follow regarding what movie we will be watching.

Pep Rally
We will have a Pep Rally in the stadium on Friday September 17th during 8th period.  We will take this time to introduce our Fall Athletic Teams and have a little fun!

Homecoming Game
The annual Homecoming Game will be on Friday,  September 17th, at 7:00 pm vs Gahanna Lincoln HS.  Our Homecoming ceremony recognizing our court and winners of King and Queen, will take place before the game at approximately 6:30 pm.

Homecoming Dance
Our annual Homecoming Dance will be held in the stadium on Saturday, September 18th, 7:30 pm-10:00 pm.  This will be a “rain or shine” event outside.  The only way we would cancel is if there is long periods of lightning and thunder or sideways rain. I want to stress to everyone that this is an OPTIONAL event.  It is your choice whether you attend or not.  If you or your parents do not feel comfortable with you attending the dance, that is perfectly fine.  More details as far as logistics will follow at a later date but wanted to communicate some important details that will be different than past homecoming dances.

  1. CURRENT DARBY STUDENTS ONLY – This was decided on by all three principals and central office administration. The decision was an easy one to make when we spoke about COVID contact tracing.  Please do not put us in an uncomfortable situation having to turn your date away at the gate.  We are strongly enforcing this rule by making sure everyone that attends MUST bring their School ID and Ticket to enter.  NO EXCEPTIONS!  If you do not have both of these items…you will not be allowed to enter.  There are NO REFUNDS for not having your school ID.  I highly suggest if you do not have a current school ID that says 2021-2022 on the ID, you need to head to the media center to get a new one!  There are no excuses to not have a school ID at this point of the school year.
  2. DRESS CODE – Listed below but wanted to make sure we were clear on the most important part regarding proper shoes. Everyone needs to have flat soled shoes on the stadium turf.  Tennis shoes, flip flops, sandals etc. BUT absolutely NO high heel shoes will be allowed inside the stadium gates.  Representatives from Key Club will have a spot set up for coats / shoes / phones / purses check-in.

One of the fun parts for girls related to Homecoming is getting your hair/nails done, buying a dress/fancy outfit, and going out to dinner!  We still want you to have that opportunity but remember the part about this being a “rain or shine” dance!  We will know when we get closer to the date what the weather will look like but I would hate for you to ruin your outfit.  Same goes for those who wear a suit.  More on this when we get closer.

E Pluribus Unum
It’s time once again to join the student leadership group, E Pluribus Unum, Out of Many, One. In this opportunity, students have the opportunity to examine concepts of identity, empathy, and advocacy, as well as consider the positive power of inclusion so that everyone has a place and a voice at the table. Please consider participating in this opportunity as we reflect, dialogue and make changes for our school, community and ourselves. Your voice matters so why not “be the change”?! Hard copies of the invitation letter and permission slip are available in the Main Office, but you can click THIS LINK to learn more and to access the permission slip to participate. Permission slips are due back by October 1st.

Cookie Day is Thursday, September 16th.  We need lots of cookies, about 110 dozen!   Cookies can be homemade or store bought.  Please make sure they are individually wrapped (as easy as placing them in individual ziplock bags.   They can be dropped off at school on Wednesday and Thursday.  Or email DarbyPTO for other drop off arrangements.   This is a fun tradition for our students.

College Bound Juniors
College Bound Juniors: Registration for the PSAT  is open and runs through September 24th. The cost is $24 and you can register through MyPaymentsPlus. The PSAT/NMSQT will be held October 13th and is great practice for taking the SAT. It can also qualify you for scholarship programs and give insight into which AP courses you may be ready to take.
