If you have had her, you’d know that Mrs. Fout is an extremely lovable teacher. She’s caring and has a good teaching style. Some students don’t know much about her, so The Jaguar Times decided to ask her some questions so all of Bradley can get to know her.
Q: What made you want to be a teacher?
A:“I enjoy getting to work with young people. I love reading and writing, so spending my day teaching English is fun. I am lucky that I get to read and discuss books with my students.”
Q:What is your favorite book at the moment?
A:“I just finished There There by Tommy Orange, and it was a great book.
Q:What is your favorite children’s book?
A: “Harry Potter series!!!”
Q:What is your favorite food?
A: I love making homemade pierogies. They are a lot of work, but they are worth it!”
Q:What is your favorite thing about teaching freshman?
A: “By teaching freshmen, I get to know students their first year of high school and then I get to be a part of their next three years of high school. Freshmen are also getting to know the school and are trying to find their place in it.
Q: Do you have any advice for freshman in your English class?
A: Find your place in the school. Join a sport or a club. Get involved in the school. I know that sounds like cliche advice, but having a group or community is important. We have a lot of different activities at Bradley so there is something for everyone.”
The Jaguar Times also talked to some students who currently have and that have had her in the past and they shared what they liked about her.
Q:What did you enjoy about her teaching style?
“I really liked how she used audio books whenever she could because it was a good way to hear the book other than my teacher just reading it to me.” Wesley Vala (12).
“I like that she has us color code our essays, it helped me understand what I needed to have fully in my essay” Jessica Cline (9).
Q:What was your favorite thing that she taught?
“I took her contemporary young adult class so my favorite thing was The Hate U Give. Her class was a safe space for everyone to share their opinions without being judged so I really like that about her” Aubrey Nunn (12).
“So far I’ve really liked her teaching us about the history of Young Adult Literature” Jillian Cline (9).
If you could describe her in one word what would it be?
“Caring” Aubrey Nunn (12) .
This year Mrs. Fout is teaching young adult literature which is a class where people young adult books and she is also teaching regular English 9. If you see Mrs. Fout around don’t be shy to say hi!
